My most recent experience with Holst Supersoft was just after Christmas. I knit the Coorie In Poncho with it, held with a strand of mohair. I did something I've heard about a few times lately...I soaked it first in water with a bit of dish soap to help with the spinning oil, then I soaked it with a wool wash. It's the best result I've had with the Supersoft ❤

I knit Henedict Cumberbaawk, and found the pattern challenging. I learned to do w & t like a pro tho! I left a pocket open on her tummy to insert one of my small heating pads (flannel bags filled with rice that you microwave) I'm gonna knit another Emotional support chicken and put them under my elbows while I knit.

I’ve been watching this episode a bit at a time as my schedule was full this week. Your projects are lovely and I like that emotional support chickens were mentioned here even if that type of pattern isn’t your jam. I’m working on 3 active WIPs (Tessellated vest/nordic sweater and basic ribbed socks), and I am limiting myself to that as the number of WIPs will grow out of control…and I want more finishes. After one of these 3 projects are done I’ll be making an emotional support chicken.

I have knit three Steven West shawls in just Holst Supersoft and I love them. They are light and warm and lovely. I wear them on my walks to and from work in Southern California, instead of a jacket.

For the heel flap and gusset question for colourwork socks, another option for the afterthought heel is to use more than half the stitches for your heel. For example, if you are knitting 70 stitches around, instead of doing the heel on 35 stitches, put a few extra stitches onto your waste yarn and do the afterthought heel on 39 or 41 stitches. It will give you a bigger wedge for your heel and gives extra space for the instep.

Last week you were talking about using 2-16” needles for your socks. What needles do you use, yours look like a long needle. Do you use a fixed or interchangeable?

The needles I use most often for sock toes are the Nova Platina 16” .

Just finished scrak mittens in alpaka. Does Anyone know if they strech well in width w alpkka 100%?

I have made alpaca socks and find the stretch to be adequate. Be extra careful with your handwashing as they are prone to felting.
