I am afraid at this point a guarantee that Ukraine will never be a member of NATO would not be enough. Putin needs to save face and there is no way a world pariah can accomplish this. He’s too proud to back down without achieving his goal. I think change must come from within Russia.

He also want Ukraine for other reasons. It’s not that he doesn’t want Ukraine to not join NATO - Putin wants Ukraine to be a puppet state of Russia. Moreover, there’s was more ludicrous “demands” the Kremlin put on the tables. Namely, that NATO should go back to before 1997. This, in effects, means that Putin wants NATO to kick out the Baltic states, Poland, Romania, and other East European nations. No other words than insanity can describe Putins state of mind when he came up with those ideas. Don’t listen to Tulsi Gabbard. She’s clueless of the real issues. And the fact that she decides to focus on everything about this war, except on Russia, really demonstrates her lack of true understanding. To be honest, as a European from the Nordic countries, all I can say is that she’s despicable.

What Putin has been negotiatomg via Turkey for is Ukraine's neutrality and disarmament to certain extent, protection for the Russian language in Ukraine, the de-Nazification of Ukraine, and carving up parts of eastern Ukraine. So Tulsi is incorrect to assume all that is required is Ukraine's neutrality, but she's speaking more sense than everyone else who is prolonging this war and death by arming Ukraine. Putin is not mental, he knows what he's doing. He can't have NATO on Russia's doorstep as Tulsi said.

She's crystal clear. Not sure where you get your information from. There was a coup in 2014, supported by the USA, which included neo-Nazi militias taking over the democratically-elected govt. The Ukrainian gov't has imprisoned people who criticize it, have shut down opposition parties, etc. The problem is Ukraine has tied themselves so closely to the US over the past several years -- and now they are seeing what that really means. USA and NATO are not going to send one soldier into Ukraine to fight Russia.

Back in the day, we worked things out with the Soviet Union. They withdrew offensive missiles from Cuba, and we withdraw offensive missiles from Turkey. Prior to this crisis, we didn't station offensive capabilities in the Baltic countries (I don't know if this has changed in the last few days); and, we would not have stationed offensive capabilities in Ukraine or Georgia. Imperial Russia, Soviet Russia and now Putin's Russia has been at war with its neighbors continuously for hundreds of years. Imperial Russia advanced westward, absorbing Ukraine among other countries, until clashing with Prussia (later Germany) and the Austrian Empire; it advanced southward, pushing the Ottomans off the north shore of the Black Sea, pushing Persia out of the Caucasus region, and it pushing eastward, absorbing much of central and Siberian Asia, ultimately coming into conflict with China and Japan. Upon the dissolution of Imperial Russia after its defeat by Germany and Austria in WWI, Lenin and Stalin re-conquered most of the breakaway places. Putin is now seeking to replicate Lenin's and Stalin's accomplishments, following the 1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union. Putin is, among other things, an irredentist. He will not stop until he is stopped. Where that will be, we don't know, but it looks like the people of Ukraine have decided it will be there. Poland's defeat of Russia's invasion in the 1920s may be repeated by Ukraine in the 2020s.

in an ideal world, there needs to be buffer states lying between two potentially hostile big powers, in this case Russia and Nato.. Their existence mostly prevent conflict between them..But if one side attempts to military partnership with a buffer state then the war is inevitable. US knew this, thought if they boil the frog slowly there wont be reaction but it didn't go as expected..

Ukraine is riddled with neo-Nazis, even it's goverment, and pro-Ukrainian forces have been killing ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine for years, apparently killing some 14,000 since 2014. Crimea wants to be part of Russia, with some 90% support in the area. Overall none of this justifies a war, but something had to snap eventually and the west has done nothing to aid Russia.

She's speaking the truth, loud and clear. Putin has been saying since 2008 that Ukraine joining NATO is an existential threat to Russia. The USA knows about that -- they totally shit their pants when the Soviets put missiles in Cuba. Experts in the US have been warning for years about this. All the US/NATO had to do was say that NATO would never accept Ukraine, they would always be neutral. But, as Tulsi said, it's good for the military-industrial complex to provoke Russia and create the conditions for justifying more military buildup.
