Wow Gabi this video is 6 years old but I only found you today. So I'm 65 years old and started gymnastics/tumbling 6 months ago. I have a standing back tuck and just started working on round off plus bhs. I'm aiming to have a safe clean round off bhs x 1, back tuck on the tumble track by December 2022. So I haven't done gymnastics as a child, youth, adult, but I did pole vault from age 38 through to 50. Last 15 years mainly been running and cycling. So I really got a lot out of this video and I'll subscribe now and check out more of your content. BTW, never heard of cheer as a sport before last year but it's great to find new stuff in the sport/exercise field. Cheers

All you have to do is ask your spot if they think you’re close. Sometimes they can tell you to do it by yourself which can boost your confidence some more

Kylie Makenna list the pros and cons why you would want to do it and explain how passionate you are about it, maybe make a deal with her that you commit to cheer for a year or however long and if you like it stay and if you don’t do competitive dance, they are both also expensive in their own way so if she brings up the cost of cheer dance is also very costly

I always did it at tumbling with my coach and then one day I'm just like throw it on the ground it will only make me better and I threw it and I did it☺️ just go for it remember everything you did with your coach and just do it!!

i do all my splits and stretches on my right. but i tumble on my left (cartwheel, roundoffs) but my walkovers are from my right since i split better there. should i do something about my cartwheels/roundoffs?

I was so mad at my self this season I was placed on a level 1 team because I didn’t have my back handspring yet but I got it like a week later and the other team was already full so I had to compete level 1. Next season I will be competing level 3 cause I got my round off tuck etc but I’m scared cause I’ve never done level 2 Stunts and I’ll be thrown into level 3

I broke my collarbone playing football as a teenager. It’s been a few years now and was wondering, is it too late to learn tumbling? I can do cartwheels like crazy but I’m scared to do a full handspring because of my injury.

No! You have to know your limits and follow them. The best thing for you to do will be to use a spotter, they can help hold your weight if it’s too much

Fake it mentally... Say I'm about to do a cartwheel but in the back of your mind you know you're going to do a handstand. It's all about making yourself feel confident, you can do just keep telling yourself that.😊

A whip is more like a fast back handspring and no set. A layout is when you set and pull you hips up so your body is straight ☺️☺️ hope this kinda helped

Start doing your back handspring on a very soft surface, like a mattress or a trampoline. That way your brain knows there's no way you can get hurt. Then, work up to the grass! It will help a lot of you have more experience on a soft surface, because it will feel better when doing the back handspring on the grass! Also practice every day! You'll definitely improve!

I had to get mine to make a team that I wanted to be on so I started doing private lessons every week for a couple of months. This helped me a lot. My advice to you is to practice a lot and stay serious about it if you really want to achieve this goal then you have to stay focused.
