I used this video to tear apart my truck today and a guy on Tundra forums to align the new servo assembly correctly (temp control motor went out). Very helpful video and key to making this a relatively painless 6 hour job. Found a new servo assembly from Toyota for $120. Thanks very much for posting!

Thanks for this video. I had put this job off for 2 years as I suspected how difficult it would be-and it is. (And I do industrial maintenance as a day job.) This is an all day job as it likely will take it several tries getting it all to line up and working. I personally didn't have any luck trying to line up the inner blend door by sticking something through the alignment hole. What eventually worked for me is lining it up, and using a long piece of electrical tape in about a 7 o'clock direction away from gear to hold in place, When servo assy slides in flush and isn't rocking. I put screwdriver in hole as I tightened down. Then, I pulled on tail of tape sticking out from under assy to remove.

This is great. I'm curious... My actuator motor died. Do I NEED to take off the whole assembly or can I just pop off the motor and put a new motor on?

Hey John, I have smoke billowing out of my vents when i shut the truck off. It is smoking because of the constant feed of air from the blower... and the mouse nest that i BELIEVE is down there. No other problems. When the heater element up against the floor boards / firewall warms up, something is smoking. I have previously gone about as far as you have without removing the flap motor assemblies. My question is: Your video is not intended to show further access to the venting assembly, however, do you know if i can gain MORE acsess by removing the flap motor assemblies? Currently I am fishing a grabber tool like in your video and a fuel-line attached to a shop vac down the vent DIRECTLY after the blower motor. I can see in there with a light and a mirror and I have removed some leaves and pine needles already but the smoking continues. I need to get further. I really do not want to take any more apart than needed but do you have any ideas to help. There is something further down that is heating up. Ideas on how to get further????Thanks

My Tundra has the following problem. When you turn the AC switch on nothing happens for about a minute not even the recirculate light comes on. Then after about a minute everything turns on and works fine the air blows correctly from each vent when I change the knob setting. I noticed in the video you said that there was also a recirculation actuator that is behind the glove Box.. From what I described above how would I know if it were the actuator that's behind the Center console or if it's the recirculation actuator behind the glove Box? Another thing I noticed is when I turn the car off and the air has been on or if I change the knobs from cold to hot I can hear a growling noise... it sounds like the actuator motor... That also happens when I turn the vehicle off within a few seconds then it stops. I hear that growling noise every time I use the air and I turned the vehicle off or I just start and I tried to turn the air on. Also one note. The recirculation light likes to turn itself off frequently by itself I'm constantly having to push it and turn it back on... any information would be greatly appreciated as I would like to attempt the repair myself however I don't know which actuator to replace, the one behind the dash or the one behind the glove box.. thx

My truck won't stop blowing a/c in the floor. Do you think this could be my problem? Forums say Toyota's just do that. Thanks for taking the time.

Excellent video. What an absolute disaster of a design by toyota. There is so much room under the dash, that this should not be more than an 30-60 minute plug and play job.

John, Great video. I have the exact problem. Could you describe in detail how you swapped out the white gear from the bad control motor to the new one and how you aligned the gears so that they meshed correctly? Dealer told me it would cost about $1000 to fix this problem, but after watching your video, I'm going to be able to fix it myself for considerably less. Thanks in advance for your help!! Steve

It takes about 3 hours to pull the intake manifold, replace the valve assembly & reinstall everything. It cost around $250- 300 for the part
