Great install video! One piece of information I learned as a tech, with all new Toyota’s that have the electronic throttle body, when you disconnect the battery, the false start can be avoided. Once you reconnect the battery, turn the key on without starting the truck for about 20-30 seconds. This allows the throttle body to relearn for a moment, and prevents the immediate shut down on the first start.

So I just installed the wireless charger. This video was invaluable and I had to pause and rewind several times. The printed instructions were good but being able to see it done and it real dimensions was beyond helpful. My wife is a little upset because I used one on her salsa bowls to hold the 18 little screws for the lid, but she will get over it. Thanks again and I am off to watch more of your videos on mods I need for my 2020 Tundra. P.S. I was surprised to learn that the SR5 badge is not an adhesive but has plastic tabs instead that fit into the console.

Update. Just got a call from Sparks Parts and the issue has been resolved. Credit card fraud is no joke. Been a victim several times. The guys at Sparks Parts called and spoke with me personally. I will correct any issues on my end and re-order the part. Thanks again for the video.

@@gearrunner Everything is working great with the wireless charger, but I have noticed now, because I guess when the negative side of the battery was disconnected during installation of the wireless charger, that now my "Distance to Empty" miles is not reading correctly. The distance miles jumped up. Normally when I fill up it says 417 miles to empty, but when I filled up yesterday, it said 580 miles. I don't really let my gas get below a 1/4 tank anyways, but just my OCD kicks on when I look at it. Has anyone else asked you about this happening to them?

This was my first mod! Because I bought a 2020 my infotainment system was also CarPlay enabled so my second mod was purchasing a carplay2air module. The combination of both of these devices means I never have to plug in my iPhone again! Life is awesome!

Installed this and i regret it. Installation was fine, but the product is subpar. My iphone 12 slides around even with an otterbox commuter case. And if the phone isn’t laid perfectly in center of the tray, it won’t charge. And while driving, if the phone moves in the tray, it stops charging, which is all the time. Also it’s normally on once the truck starts. I;d prefer to have to turn it on myself rather than remembering to turn it off everytime i start the truck. Save your money, buy a fast charging usb to lightening cord and be happy. Waste of $150 and an hour of my time. Alternatively, this video made my imstall VERY easy. Thank you sir.

Great mod and nice video! I ended up making my own wireless charging try from different pieces and parts from Amazon last year. I agree Toyota should have added this, especially to the Platinum. It would be nice if someone would sell those hinge covers separately for both sides. I used hot glue to fill mine to keep the wires secure. Nice clean mod. Thanks for posting!

Mine would not click. I noticed the internal male pin was bent. And after straightened it still never snapped no matter how hard I pushed together. I was careful of not trying to bend anything and still had a minor problem. It does work now after several tedious disconnects from battery, EVEN THOUGH IT STILL NEVER CLICKED IN. Yours went in like a piece of cake. Lol Your videos helped alot. *I'VE GOT 4 DOGS, THERE GONNA BE WALKING ALL OVER THIS CHARGER. HOPE IT HOLDS UP TO THEIR PAWS.

Great video! Some of my screws did not want to go back in. I pushed a small portion of zip ties in two of them to let the screw tighten. 2 screws towards the middle did not go in. I have no idea but the rest were lined up.

That's pretty cool.. wish i had this when i installed mine. I just mounted a wireless charger under my phone holding pad and used a lighter adapter for power. works really good to. I found the longer charger is what was needed and not the round ones

New to Gear Runner. Liked the video, Good job by the way. Tried to order this part from Sparks Parts for my 2018 Tundra TRD Pro. Customer service is a joke. They do not respond in a timely manner to texts or email and you can't actually talk to a live person. I tried the chat option twice only to be left hanging. I'll not be attempting any more purchases from the Sparks Parts. The discount is nice but not if I can't trust then vendor.

I did this in my 2014. Cost about $20 for the pad off amazon and about an hour to install in the existing console lid. That includes the modification time.

Levi Pu I did it a few years ago and they have come out with better, fast chargers now. The one I used was an oval shaped pad. Also, if you have a Dremel it will help otherwise you can knock it out with a box cutter or exacto knife. I used hot glue to secure the pad to the bottom and even in the Oklahoma heat I never had a problem with melting. They may be a KZbin how to video on here if you search.
