I am about to add an intercooler to my unleashed tune. The typical dyno charts show the gains only at the top end, but users seem to report a noticeable gain on the butt dyno. Has your car responded better across the entire RPM range or just the top end like the dyno charts?
@danbaltizar63465 жыл бұрын
Intercoolers do not add power, they just keep the power that is already there stock, at a constant level and cool the air to normal driving levels when beating on the car or in warmer weather. That has been proven for many decades on Turbo and Supercharged cars.

Shane Rogers Down pipe, cold air intake, intercooler, dyno tune would be great.

@@danbaltizar6346 Actually they do increase power. They also prevent preignition, which prevents power being lost which will again increase power vs not using one. They also let you run higher boost which gives more power. But even just the intercooler will add power. "The rules of thermodynamics state that the larger the temperature difference between the inlet air through the manifold and the temperature of combustion within the cylinder, the more energy is converted through the combustion. So a colder intake means a bigger temperature difference and therefore more power."

If possible, I would like all three principals of Down South Racing to weigh in on this comment, individually. Since the three of you have unique and varied perspectives, how do Jared and Wade feel about the Ecoboost Mustang? Something that I would like to see is a PP2 Ecoboost with an additional driving mode added to the ones already available. I would like to be able to toggle the Mode control to an autocross setting. This setting would optimize the Magnetic Ride Control, the Electronic Stability Control and the engine map for the tight switch back turns of parking lot racing. It would dominate the B.F Goodrich Autocross at Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach. What do you think? Create a poll and if enough of your viewers like it, maybe Ford will build it.

Howard Lazoff the ecoboost is a very good value for money. A PP2 ecoboost would be somewhat irrelevant in my opinion, as if you want to go fast on a track, any GT (with summer performance tires) would outrun an ecoboost even with better suspension/ tires. -Jared

I doubt it’s quicker than a 5.0 but faster?, possibly. The 5.0’s top speed is 152-155, about 5-10 mph faster than a stock EcoBoost. However, the EcoBoost will need at least 430 hp and similar torque to equal the 5.0 in terms of how quick it is. Quick is a vehicles acceleration times. Fast is a reference to top speed and 1/4 trap speeds. A dp adds 4-6 hp and 8 lb-ft. Catt back to axle adds 4-6 hp more, Muffler swaps add no power and Catt delete and resonator delete add no power either.

its def nice to see guys running the Ecoboost Mustang for both a daily and autocross track days the main advantage with the Ecoboost is the lighter nose compared to the GT so your steering respond is quicker than the GT with the V8 Maybe the tuning needs to rework the shifting delays. Weird that many independent car reviewers rave about the 10 speed on the GT but on the Ecoboost is kinda bad as in the gearbox is confused as what gears to use. So many will suggest going manual with the Ecoboost regarding the engine block cracking issue, it seems that there is a lack of bracing or support for the exhaust of the block, hence why the block cracks at cylinder 2. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaaqoJeBmbd_pqc some mods to the stock block like bracing the exhuast side with more metal may help solve the cracking issue but if you really want to push the Ecoboost beyond 500+ bhp, billet block is prob the only way forward.

@DownSouthRacing5 жыл бұрын
Kevin Norwood yes but the higher air speed will negate the heat from the engine vs open hood to allow heat to escape. Fans only blow air very slowly say 20-30 mph. That’s why there is such a thing as a ram air, to force more air in. And no a cold air intake isn’t the end all be all, but a better, more efficient filter with a larger MAF equals more, cooler air therefor a slight increase in power because of oxygen levels increasing and combustion getting better. When I done this intake I was on the verge of going 11’s and yeah my car would’ve no doubt went 11’s with the old Roush. But I’ll say with something around 50-60 lbs of suspension weight added and being on a radial, the car trapped higher in worse air. Went 118.41 in 400 DA and 119.05 in 1900 DA. If you watch the next video I post I’ll go over it. So the car has to be making more steam at least on the big end of the track. But I plan on a dyno comparison rest of both intakes soon(ish) as well.

I'm having a super hard time ignoring how awful the exhaust sounds compared to the V8 counterparts hell even a v6 would sound better I would think..
@anthonyprieto14953 жыл бұрын
A v6 is also slower 🤣 If you want sound get a hemi... But even the ecoboost can compete with the 5.7 easily. And with a tune? LMAO! it'll be sad when a big bad v8 gets smoked by a 4 cylinder lol.
