I have been practicing Tung (Yang) Style Tai Chi for 43 years. In this video, I am demonstrating the Basic Solo Exercise with fewer repeats. For the most part, this form utilizes high steps, which are recommended for practitioners to further develop their balance by clearly differentiating between light and heavy in stepping. However, in some movements, I am expressing different degrees of stepping, timing, and transitions. Please reference Tung Ying Chieh's red book, "Tai Chi Chuan Explained," for excellent photos of his postures and particularly his form transitions. I would like to thank my Tai Chi disciple, Andrew Switzer, for the filming and editing of my videos.

Hi Ron, I'm happy that you are finding this video useful. I actually haven't seen myself do a recorded form in almost 15 years so, I'm getting a lot out of it myself...mainly to correct my own form. I remember what Master Mak used to say, "If Master Tung Ying Chieh was still alive, I'd still be getting corrections!"
@ronsalah7007
@ronsalah7007 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Andy. I know more than ever the need for constant correction. I watch videos of the Tung family, but I find it difficult, because they’re different in details. I need one consistent constant. You’re videos will do that for me. You’re my teacher. I look to you. This is especially important because I’m no longer in Edmonton, so no Robin, no Leonard to help guide me regularly. Guy has been really helpful. I’m quite isolated in Halifax.

Andy, I’m trying to contact you. I believe you are the Andy who studied with Mack Yin Po in Edmonton. I visited to take extra training as he was my teacher’s teacher. I would like to contact you to pass on old Tai Chi books, and memorabilia. How to contact you? Is there a business that you are affiliated with? I am on Facebook under Gena Ferguson.
