Impressed by Dan's iron will, being able to use consumable bombs instead of stockpiling them just in case the last part of the game is just 100 bombable doors in a row.

I love how the little fox turns its head to look at points of interests. Like if it's on a ledge and there's a chest below, it'll look down at the chest.

Don't be afraid to open the guide booklet frequently. I know constantly being in the start menu is usually bad form with an audience but referencing it often helped me form connections faster

This this this. The game is designed to be played as if you were sitting there with the manual open in your lap, frequently referencing and rereferencing is part of the fun! It's a big ol' constellation of dots for you to draw the lines between!

Dan: *walks up to healing point* Dan: *smacks healing point with stick* Dan: *walks in circles around it several times* Dan: *walks away at low health with only one potion and right into a fight against tough enemies* Dan, three seconds later: "I should probably find a healing point soon and get topped off." But for real, watching you play this is giving me the same warm fuzzies I got the first time I played Tunic myself. Reminds me of your Outer Wilds play through in terms of "oh, he is sooooo close to figuring it out."

One little detail I adore is how this is, without a doubt, the foxes' world. Every statue and every skeleton you've found is that of a fox (including the skull-bats and the two skulls with switches at the start of the Dark Tomb). No accidental human representation, it's foxes all the way down. Even the candle cultists and the envoys (two of the humanoid enemies you've seen so far) are clearly foxes. (The jury's still out on the Rudelings, I guess. Maybe they're pugs.)

The cultists and envoys seem more like wolves to me, if anything I'd said they're all canids rater than foxes.

@@Inferryu But aren't foxes canids as well? At the very least, wikipedia says they belong to the family Canidae, and from the sound of the word I'd bet that makes them canids too.

@@Megawott104 All foxes are canids, but not all canids are foxes, that's the point. OP's claim is that cultists and envois(as well as other world details) are all foxes or related to them, but to me, cultists and envois look more like wolves, that's why I said they at least be canids since I'm not so sure they are all foxes. There's a very high chance I might be the wrong though, as I haven't spent that much time looking at the details that much once after I finished the game.

Another fun thing that has no bearing on the game whatsoever - if you move the joystick around while the guidebook is open, you can see the game behind it as if you were playing it on a CRT TV. I think that's showing what the game actually looks like, vs what you think it looks like when you're playing it. Its kind of like how I felt playing Breath of the Wild took me back to what I envisioned Ocarina of Time was when I first played it.

16:38 So, those skeletons are positioned there so that, if you rush forward and knock them back, they'll activate the spike traps and give you a heads up that you shouldn't walk there. It's a nice little touch and bit of player help.

I've played Tunic when it came out and it's my GOTY. As such I have a hard time not giving all kinds of coy hints/semi-spoilers, but Dan's doing a great job exploring and puzzling it out. Hope he'll enjoy it as much as I did. :D

love this game! finished it pretty recently. non-spoiler tip: due to there being stuff hidden by your perspective, using the lock on to shift the camera a bit can be helpful at times to sniff out pathways you might otherwise miss

From my observation, seems the heart card is what caused those mini hearts to drop from defeated foes, and all of the shots that got reflected were blue, it might just be RNG which one they fire because I think the wind-up had a slightly different sound between shots too.

Fun fact that will genuinely not help Dan in any way at all: the devs hid a second sword in the western garden so speed runners could get it without having to go into the eastern forest at all. This game's devs were very clever about letting players sequence break this game in some very unique ways, and it's genuinely super interesting watching how speed runners put it all into practice
