TUNIC Ambience - Maze Cave - 1 Hour

Upon entering an innocuous alcove, you find yourself in the middle of a strange cavernous space, staring in awe at what can only be described as an anomaly; You're standing on thin air...
You hesitate to question why or how, in fear that if you do, you may fall into the dark abyss below, but-- ...wait, did you just hear something?...

Sometimes the soundtrack alone is not enough: this track is actually not included in the OST for TUNIC, but its' strange and unusual atmosphere is worth listening to. It comes complete with the mysterious noises that bounce off the walls, and... a strange sound that seems to chitter in and out of audible register. What could it possibly be?...

I'm sorry to hear your notification didn't let you know! I've been uploading nearly every day, so I suppose check diligently-- not sure why KZbin is weird sometimes. It is a pretty intriguing location! I love places like this that are innocuous and strange, it really lends to the imagination... I wonder what this place could 'be for'?..

My interpretation: this is a prison with elements of the Greek Labyrinth and Plato's "The Cave," which ties into the importance of knowledge in this game. IMO, there is a prison right above this one. Also noteworthy is that the player is essentially stripped of their freedom to shift the camera in this room. Imprisonment is a major theme in TUNIC. To me, this is one of many contributing symbols

That is a very astute and interesting take on this location. I only just now realized that there IS a prison right above this room-- one with bars on the wrong side of the room. That's actually where you get the Stick from... Spooky! If imprisonment is the theme, and this room is tied to it, what could it possibly be conveying? Hmmm..

@@SapphietShyies Thank you! ^^ My perception might be a little far-fetched, but sometimes that's a fun part of art. In my mind: a very long time ago, the "upper prison" was guarded and probably allowed visitors, as well as the sending and receiving of letters. The Stick room is actually the guards' room, while the prison cell itself is unseen behind the bars. The "lower prison"/Maze Cave is a representation of solitary confinement, which is notorious for causing a long list of severe mental health problems. The soundtrack here evokes that: anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations, etc. This all makes me think of "Big Fox" who is in (mostly) solitary confinement, and this room might be an artful attempt at conveying how they feel.

That's an incredible perception of the locations provided, and I think it's really creative of you to think such. For something that isn't explained at all, that honestly makes perfect sense-- maybe it is a little farfetched, but then again, all of TUNIC kind of is! I think your concept of this might be my new favourite headcanon-- I love-love-love the idea of, not just explaining the room containing the Stick item, but also the presence of a mailbox and receiving letters-- explaining two mysteries with one theory! ❣
