The world expands before your very eyes. All you can do is look in awe at the scope of this new place you've found yourself in... As the low thrum of your heart pounds through your body, a flicker of excitement present, you consider your place in this world.
What wonders could await you here?
---------------------
Sometimes the soundtrack alone is not enough: this is a loop of 'Memories of Memories', with the corresponding ambience of the location, complete with the sound of gentle gusts through the air; nature, however, appears almost hesitant to welcome you in...

An incredible composition made even more special with this layer of ambience. The write-up is so true and insightful, too, along with your comments ^^ This is one of my favorite intros ever, and it's so impressive how this area keeps that magical feeling going. ✨ Thank you for capturing and sharing that feeling.

This song is such an incredible one, that it would be wrong of me never to have uploaded it; I'm glad I finally got it out. I've had it planned to be one of the last ones from the start. The dynamic tones of this song, and the slow startup, is incredibly potent in setting the tone for this game, as it inspires mystery and wonder almost immediately; the song also continues for a surprising amount of time, so it never gets old to listen to. It always makes me happy to listen to this song, and I think everyone who listens to this song will feel similar wonder and inspiration from it; it really is the perfect overworld theme for a game like TUNIC. You're certainly welcome, thank you for sticking around long enough to see the last few videos. :)

@@SapphietShyies Lots of good points, I totally agree! This song is, perhaps, the most iconic and fondly-remembered one for TUNIC players. So I really respect your good judgment to save it for the end-- to me, it feels like a wise "Director's decision" to organize your series this way. Also, to "end with the beginning" feels respectful to TUNIC's looping/circular nature~ :3c (And it's my pleasure to stick around! ^^ It's the least I can do, especially after you were so kind and made the Water Cave video!)

@@CallResponse Ending with the beginning was somewhat the intention, and I'm glad you saw the intention through that-- I thought it was a bit clever. :3 The entire story of TUNIC sort of depends on that-- even if you finish the game, you're likely to do a New Game +, just to see what it is like. (The Water Cave video was one of my favourites, and I was eager to give it a try at some point-- you suggesting it just made me want to do it more. It's so amazing, and I'm glad I was able to give it to you. You deserved it! :3)

This is definitely one of my favorite tracks from the game. In some way I don't understand, it evokes a feeling of nostalgia. Unfortunately, as I grew up, like many people, I became less emotional. New games don't evoke the same emotions that arose when I was 10 years old, in the era of good old flash games. Except this one. TUNIC does not lead you by the hand and allows you to explore everything on your own. This + soundtrack (especially "Memories of Memories") + the visual style is surprisingly created by those long-forgotten sensations that old games brought. An absolute masterpiece!

This track in TUNIC is absolutely phenomenal, to be sure; I was not a part of the 'flash games growing up' era, but I know a few people who are, and were very passionate about it, so I understand how the feeling can be. :) Nostalgia is a very specific word to use, and I often think about the interpretation of nostalgia that Andrew Shouldice spoke in a stream a month ago; "Nostalgia, the word, is literally 'the pain of coming home', I think is what it's supposed to translate to; nostalgia is not 'Aw man, I love the past', it is, revisiting the past and having it ache for it not existing anymore; you can't swim in the same river twice, sort of thing. It has changed, very inherently; and so, the approach with TUNIC was, trying to evoke the same feelings, not the same content. So, when we play a game, when we THINK about playing a game like Zelda 1, it's not, 'Its pixels that makes me feel this way!', well, the pixels didn't make you feel that way, in the past; what made you feel that way, was exploring something you didn't understand, and having something that feels like it was larger than it ought to be, that it COULD go on forever. And, that was what we were shooting for. That's an impossible thing to do-- right?-- so the fact that people were able to, get a little bit of that feeling when they played, is really wonderful. That means that we succeeded, that we were able to try and make that same feeling happen, by presenting a world that made you feel the same way that you did back then, without necessarily being the like, 'it's aligned to a grid!' or something like that." Your feelings of nostalgia are very well-placed-- and I think all of us here, most players who have gone through TUNIC, share the sentiment. I'm glad we could all share the same journey together in TUNIC, even with the differences between our first playthroughs. :)

@@SapphietShyies Whoa! I've never really thought about what nostalgia really is. It's very interesting! I don't follow Andrew Shouldice much, but now I'll try to find the time to watch this interview. Thanks for the tip) In fact, another reason for my interest in TUNIC is that I am also a game developer/game designer by profession, and I also dream of creating my own little masterpiece someday. And such things are really interesting to me. So far, I'm just gaining experience. Developing such a game almost alone is a real feat! 💪

@@muse_x4237 Andrew Shouldice is a very curious individual whose story is rather unremarkable, but still very interesting. There are a few videos where he discusses his process and how things work; I would highly recommend the TUNIC Developer Breakdown interview, where Shouldice discusses how he came about the idea of the manual, the art direction-- and even has some early footage of the game to see-- if I recall correctly, he outright quit his job at a game development studio to basically freehand TUNIC in his free time, and the world of TUNIC was reported to have been rebuilt about three times before we came to the version we know and love today. TUNIC truly is a development story of overcoming an impossible challenge, and it paid off; here we are, enjoying ambience from it and discussing it, even though it's two years old now.. :'3

In my opinion, the best song in the entire game, sets the tone for the whole adventure... I love every second of it. Thank you so much for this. 💖🌟

finally... who does not feel that happiness when hearing the beginning of the melody and in your mind that small cinematic of the dawn is played and our little fox waking up to begin his great adventure... the place where it all began... I never thought that That same day I started, I would spend more than 12 hours glued to my console playing and enjoying it like when I was 5 years old... now at 20 years old, this game was the only one in a long time that filled me with so many emotions that no other game had ever done to me. feel... simply all the love I feel for TUNIC is incalculable, thank you for finally uploading my second favorite soundtrack.

I had a LOT of trouble collecting my feelings when I was trying to figure out what to write for the description.. The emotions this game made me feel when I first got it-- it felt like something I'd never get my hands on. I followed the development story for years, always thinking it would never come out, not sure what would come of it. When it eventually came out, I was completely floored; it felt like I was playing something that just wasn't supposed to exist, almost. I wish so badly I could play this game for the first time again. SO badly... but we can always remember the memories and love them as much as we did from the beginning. ❤

@@SapphietShyiesI understand you perfectly, this particular soundtrack always gives me a feeling of happiness and sadness when I look back and remember with so much love my first game of TUNIC, and then see that after a long trip that took me 16 hours... get the ending true but at the same time, let go of that only and first time with which you will never return...
