I was MINDBLOWN by using paper to avoid that the foam pieces stick prematurely! It's such a simple trick but I never thought of it!

love the build, they lok great. One suggestion for helping to cut thin leather like you used to wrap the handles in is to use a rotary cutter instead of a knife. Gives a much cleaner cut and it's way easier to use.

Aw man, as someone who loves foxes and runs Badfox Propz, I'm gonna have to check this out! And probably make these props. I feel like the rings on the cross guard would have been easier to use round half dowels glued end to end. Almost zero cutting and already rounded.

Thanks! For foam I usually use an 18 TPI metal cutting blade.

I really want to see a TUNIC sword-shield replica with the kind of quality you'd see in a mall anime store, with actual metal and sized for adult use. Not to say that's _good_ quality, but TUNIC is about the only game I'd willingly (and willfully) display mall ninja replica swords from.

the 3M masking unit is great, I use it in a larger more construction context for painting trim and walls and such, but yeah it's a tool that exists and it fits your needs, put it to use

Could you maybe thin the ModPodge and spray it using a lever-action spray bottle (like you get kitchen and bathroom cleaner in)? It might need a few coats but would remove brush strokes.

What bandsaw blade do you use for getting such smooth cuts with foam? I have a 9” bandsaw with a 62inch blade, but I think my blade is much too rough and has too many offset teeth.

Question: Why not use a dowel or smaller PVC pipe to get the metal rod to fit inside the bigger PVC pipe? Seems like a lot of tape wasted to use as filler?

I like working with TNT foam but the only problem I have with it is every time I use my hotwire cutter to cut the foam the TNT foam always explodes I wonder why 💣💥

I've never used a hot wire cutter on EVA foam. A knife and/or bandsaw have always been more than enough and are probably quicker.

If you would rather not create more dust, 10mm triangular dowel would work great for "sharp" sword edges without needing to sand.

this is an awesome build! I haven't played Tunic (yet) but it looks cool. Have you actually tried Gorilla polyurethane Glue in your Props? I've seen others using it for gluing eps foam, but I don't know how it reacts with closed cell nbr foam.

I find it funny you had to redo the glue up of the handle bc the glue cured to fast because that exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I had to re 3D print 2 parts of my witcher sword bc I tried to glue them with stuff on hand and it cured to fast and the internal rods went all the way in. I had to break the print trying to free them. I now have to just start completely over with new rods and actual 5 minute epoxy bc work time is very important who would have known.
