Using RCT, hammer technique focused on trying to move string and pin simultaneously. Low tenor. Demonstrating a tuning technique in which I try to move the string and pin in sync with one another, by controlling the flex of the tuning pin with the hammer, either leaning the pin toward or away from the speaking length to account for pin twist and bearing friction.
This series of videos was made to illustrate ideas I presented in a long discussion on tuning hammer technique, which I compiled here: my.ptg.org/blog.... Essentially the idea is to approach pitch from below, always, and to manipulate the tuning hammer so that the pitch starts to change at the same instant the tuning pin begins to turn in the pinblock.
