Thank you for mentioning the reduced tension around the snare beds. This confused me for so long because everyone just says "try to get them in tune with each other" without mentioning that you could damage the hoop if you actually get all of the tension rods in tune with each other.

Hey Pascal, thanks for this video! I found it very helpful, especially since I’m a guy that is struggling to get the sound I’m looking for on my snare

I've never done it where you tune up the batter head completely before putting on the reso head and wires. I will try that next time I change heads/wires on one of my snares. Thanks!
@andreasbreitwieser14492 ай бұрын
i also never did that and i won't. It's more important to me to hear the reso absolutely clear and i vary the tuning of the batter quite often. The other way round seems to work perfect for Pascal but not for me.

I’ve done it once jus to try and it worked for one of my snares but others didn’t work so ig depending on the type of drum you have

I highly recommend investing in a Tune-Bot. It's an excellent tool for achieving precise tuning by ear and maintaining consistent tension across your drumheads. I swear by my Tune-Bot. It's the easiest way to dial in your drums, and it'll have you sounding like a pro in no time.

A point I need to make. I'm old enough to have recorded from the 70's through to yesterday and my method of tuning hasn't changed. The sound on the recording however is completely different .The "70's" sound came from the miking and desks. The 80's sounds came from engineers desperate to use the new rack effects they convinced the studio owners to buy. My point is, tuning is important but tune for the sound your ears hear, not for how you think it will sound on a track. Good video though

thanks for the video! what is that thing the snare is sat on top of while tuning? just a piece of rubber or what?
@rix292 ай бұрын
Interesting that you detune the snare side lugs nearest the snare beds. A lot of instructional videos always have the lugs tuned evenly. I’ll have to give it a try..
@hamjam42 ай бұрын
I've tried getting the lugs on the snare beds tuned evenly with the others, but ended up bending a hoop that way.

I think Pascal is more the introverted kind of guy. He is objective, informative and has a very likable way of talking. He transports warmth and the informations in a kindly manner. He absolutely don't need to be superimposed or artificial happy like the easter bunny on ecxtasy. I think you confuse unlucky with being cool.
