This tutorial will show you how to make a super soft double-sided Tunisian crochet face scrubby using a regular hook. This is a perfect small crochet project for summer, made in cotton and a regular hook.
This free Tunisian crochet pattern is worked in the round with short rows and has a seam that is not visible from the outside.
You can use a regular hook to make these Tunisian crochet coasters and the pattern is perfect for beginners.
Make these for yourself or for friends, as they are perfect for stuffing stockings.

During this tutorial you will learn important skills in Tunisian crochet that will come in handy in the future, including:
- working Tunisian crochet in the round with a regular hook;

You will need about 10 grams or 25 meters of 4-ply or 5-ply generic cotton yarn, a 6 mm crochet hook or size close to 6 mm (5.75 or 6.25 if 6 mm is not available), scissors and tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Hi and thank you for the tutorial. I found it very helpful. If I wanted to make a bigger circle, what would the ratio of "short" lines to "long" lines be? For instance, in your tutorial, we do 4 short and 5 (plus anchor stitch) long. If I wanted to do a circle with 10 stitches, how would i do that, please? thanks!

Hey! I wanted to make a blog post about how to make any size of circle with this short row method, but it's going to take a while until it's done. If you can't wait for it, there is an alternative, you can make a circle out of sections like for the Sun square or you could use the row count for the second section to calculate how many short rows you need to make it one go. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpyzdY2nqZdripI

Thank you for this lovely video! I would like to ask how I have to adjust this pattern in order to make the circle bigger (for a baby blanket). Thanks in advance!
@YarnAndy
@YarnAndy 2 жыл бұрын
How much bigger are you thinking? I've got a pattern coming soon where we square off these circles and make a blanket with dots. Would that work? I've also got an article in the works about making any size of circle in TC, but that one's going to take a while to finish. But until then you might want to try a spiral, this is by Arunima: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anzdZ2imjNGrmJo

Hi. This is a fabulous tutorial. Thank your for your time and expertise. I was wondering if you could clarify: it’s 5 loops into the first stitch in the round then 4 loops and then 5 loops into the same stitch then 4 loops and then 5 loops into the next stitch in the second stitch of the round?

Yeah, that's something I need to explore a bit more. I have a Tunisian reverse stitch tutorial planned, as you can make a reverse Tss (not exactly, but similar) and you might be able to use that along with Tss, but I still have to work on that before I can film it.

Thank You .. Is it possible to crochet a pillow in this fantastic pattern ?
@YarnAndy
@YarnAndy 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course! In about a week I will release a video on how to turn this into a square, to use it for pillows and blankets. Later on I have planned another pattern for a large square with the sun motif, but you could make it in one color. Either as a circle, or as a square. And if you mean a circle like this, but larger, you can calculate how many stitches you need on the outer edge of your size of circle, then divide that by the number of wedges (here there are 16) and you'll have the number of rows per wedge. I have a larger circle planned too, but it's for later on, after some other launches.

Could you use this circle as a start for a topdown tunisian crochet hat? I just do not like the gathered tops of tunisian crochet hats 😊
@YarnAndy
@YarnAndy Жыл бұрын
You could, but it's small. You may want to use the sun blanket square pattern (also here on the channel) for a larger circle to reach the desired circumference with two or three sections, depending on yarn and size you want to make. I'll soon have a pattern out for a hat with a shaped crown, bottom up, but I think you could use the math for top down as well. There's also a sideways hat pattern on here actually inspired by this construction, you might want to try that as well, as it's made with short rows and has a flat crown.

Hi Angeline. I used a plain cotton, like I mentioned in the video. It's equivalent to DK or size 3 cotton yarn. The colored one in the video I found in a local Rossmann, I don't think it's available anywhere else, but there are many similar yarns. I don't know where you are, so I can't recommend a specific yarn, just DK or size 3 cotton yarn, not mercerized.

I was so excited when i found this tutorial, but i got reality dissapoited because i couldnt follow along or see which stitches you went into :( i Tried to slow it down, but the angle was wrong 😭😭😭 Will you please make another more detailed tutorial? ❤️
@YarnAndy
@YarnAndy 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you for your feedback. Please check the quality that you are watching the video in and choose 720p or 1080p. Also please turn on the audio or the CC to follow along with the spoken instructions. Slowing down the video will not change the angle. There is no better angle for me to make a video like this and this tutorial is as detailed as I could possibly make it.

@@YarnAndy i did all that 😔 I saw your other video where you said one row is 5 and one row is 4 I think, that helped a bit. But when you start is it 5 and 4 and on the next 5 return it's also goes into the second base or?
@YarnAndy
@YarnAndy 3 жыл бұрын
In the blog post you have close-up photos. You work the first 4 rows in the first Sc (2 regular rows of 5 stitches, 2 short rows of 4 stitches). When making regular rows, you always pick up one extra loop in the base circle of 8Sc. Does this make more sense? Here's the blog post yarnandy.com/tunisian-crochet-face-scrubbies-pattern-for-beginners/
@Vildmis
@Vildmis 3 жыл бұрын
@@YarnAndy thanks! Yes it makes more sense, but just to confirm. When you made the 8sc and slipstitched you ch5 pic up 5 loops on the way down to the base and and extra in the same stitch you slip stitched before doing the ch5? Then back to the top, pull up 3 loops for a total of 4 and back to the top, then 5 + 1 loop in the slip stitched, then 4 and on the 3rd normal 5 loops its into the 2nd sc base sts? So each section is 5,4,5,4 in one sc sts?
@YarnAndy
@YarnAndy 3 жыл бұрын
The beginning part yes, you got that correctly. On the second row you pull up 4 loops, for a total of 5 loops on the hook. Then you return with YO and pull through 2 (that means it's a short row). Then you pull up 5 loops, 3 in row 2, 2 in the first row, then one more loop in the same Sc as for the first row. You have 7 loops on the hook at the end of row 3. Then you do a return pass and repeat row 2. Then just repeat these rows all around.
