Turbo Charged Burn Barrel

UPDATED 6-28-2018 I have finished the latest version of the Turbo Burn Barrel.. I am changing the name to Supercharged Burn Barrel as it really is a Super Charger compared to a Turbo Charger. I will soon shoot a horizontal video of the Supercharged Burn Barrel after completion, but before using it to show how it is made. Then I will do another video showing it working. Now I need to respond to lots of the comments about upsetting my neighbors. I live in a very rural area on 22 acres. We are all allowed to burn yard waste in our town. My neighbors are not close enough to hear it or see it. The smoke goes right up into the sky faster than normal because of the heat. No smoke goes onto their land. I also have no ash left in the barrel when done. I can burn green items in minutes without smoking out other land owners. They might be able to smell it at some point, but that is about it. When they burn yard debris I get smoke and smell on my land because it sits there smoldering while it burns and they are left with a huge ash pile. My neighbors have come to see the burner and they love it. I will probably end up building one for my neighbor. So everyone is fine with it..

Smoke is just unburned fuel. When the ratio of oxygen and fuel is in the flammable range, it can be ignited. Smoke is usually too "lean" to ignite, like a clean campfire smoke (open air, plenty of o2), but when it is a ventilation controlled fire (not enough o2) like in this enclosed space, the smoke will be flammable once it reaches and can mix with fresh o2. All you need is ignition source at that point, and boom. Same principle as a "smoke explosion", "flashover", and (part of) a "backdraft."

A lot a people think this is more smoke. Well not really. its denser smoke, yet for only a couple minutes versus much longer, broader, thinner smoke. Plus this is a safe way to burn without worries of high wind scattering sparks that come off of say pinetags when you burn them. In any case its a fun way to fuck around. If you cut the top off of a water pressure tank and remove the bladder, they're tougher. They also have a built in stand.

Just cut angled vents around the barrel and itll increase the temperture quite a bit and still last. More oxygen for a hotter fire. Just dont make them big enough for burning stuff to fall out.

This is pretty cool. Only thing I would add is a cinder guard to present and burning frangments launched into the air from catching fires nearby

You should line your barrel with refractory. It prevents the steel from burning through and insulates a little.
