What made that R34 in the junkyard even funnier is that it wasn’t even an old car at that point. It’s like if they made a new one today and Vin picked out a rusty, old, abused C8 Corvette from a junkyard and said “I’m a car guru, no one knows what that is, but I know it can be fast”.

I love that Craig has been filling in the gaps with the Fast and the Furious. I was the target demographic when it came out and now my son is the age I was when it was released. I built a (2-Door) 02 Honda Civic with the famous "Blitz kit" and had big name brand (Greddy, Enkei, DC, Etc.) parts on what was probably the slowest car I've ever owned. It was mostly in part due to the fact that what I saw on the screen was what I thought was performance. The look was much more prevalent to me at the time than racing. I've started building my son his first car (2018 Accord Sport) with ALP 3p airbags and he is over joyed to see the franchise returning to the "street race" type movie. Big thanks Craig for your enthusiasm and knowledge of cars. I watch every video you release and it creates awesome conversation for my kids about the movies. I don't know if you go to car shows anymore, but it would be awesome to see you at an event and maybe get an autograph for my kids.

My only question is does anyone to this day know where the “diner” scene was shot at? I know on paper it is Texas, meanwhile the actual film location is somewhere in California. I can’t imagine they built the diner for this short film so it was rented for the time slot instead.

These days it wouldn't happen absolutely not, but in 2002-2003 it wasn't enough of a crazy idea that Hollywood wouldn't use it to leap frog into Miami. There was a wrecked R34 GTR in Bayside blue on ebay about year prior that wound up selling for about 13K dollars. It had been used as a side impact crash test vehicle or it had slid in an actual crash but I can't remember. Either way the passengers side was pancakes so 13K at that time was crazy to many but it did include the entire RB26DETT drive train that still ran. Not quite as ideal as Brian's used car lot find that he could drive away in but not an impossible dream achieve at the time if you had the bankroll for it

With that knowledge, watching the amount of award winning cars that were crowded in the same street for these films now looks kinda fake too, it's incredible what the movie magic can make us believe.

The Skyline acquisition is highly unlikely, but not implausible. Hear me out. Given the fact that Brian trades the car for cash, without any paperwork (and remember, he is a fugitive at this point -- he needs something without a paper trail) almost guarantees this Skyline was illegally imported, and either stolen from its possessor or sold off after a pursuit. This would explain why it's sitting amongst a bunch of more mundane cars, scuffed and debadged -- the average person wouldn't look twice at it. Secondly, Brian was a cop. He might have went to this dealership specifically because he had investigatory knowledge that it doubled as a fence for crime cars. In this case, an illegal Skyline being passed around like a hot potato isn't a huge stretch, though extremely lucky.

If I had a nickel for every moron out there who claimed the title was/is misleading, I'd have enough money to fill up my tank. A prelude is an introduction with various forms of media ~ storytelling (preface) or even musical (overture). So many people online jumped in and 'complained' the hero car (Dodge Stealth w/kit)) wasn't a Honda despite many others posting the same thing. Let's take a minute to remind ourselves how broad the American language is. Words have multiple meanings. _My_ only small gripe is they never bothered to utilize Minka Kelly for anything past this. She could've been a helpful ally in later films, even a small role. Nope. She inexplicably helps Walker escape and thinks nothing of it. Oh, well.
