@@rhetericalpha Was it MCX.SE? I know they have made them at some point. (They used to make turbokits for a lot of bikes). I'm working on a Blackbird Supercharger project, and unlike the Busas, there isn't a lot of aftermarked support for this old lady. So it's great to watch your videos to get inspired - keep up the good work!

What makes you like the FZ1 platform so much? why not do this with a bike that is already at 200hp ?
@rhetericalpha3 жыл бұрын
I got on the Fz1 platform to have a nice riding position for my back then realized it was pretty decent at a lot of things. There are very few bikes that have 200hp stock if any and we are talking bikes that cost a lot more than I want to spend. Even the newest gsxr 1000 and zx10 don't have 200 and thats after flash, tune, exhaust, velocity stacks. Those bikes stock and new already cost 6,000 more than I have in this project. I have under 10k in this including the bike. I wanted to be different and have a one off build to tune heads but inthe future I may do an all out hayabusa build.

That is some scary looking clearance. Have you cycled the front suspension? Be interesting to see how the heat coming off that turbo impacts the front tire, especially when stopped at a light. - Assuming this isn't just a track toy.
@rhetericalpha3 жыл бұрын
It is pretty close but it should be fine. I will be messing with that to be sure. Safety first. As far as heat I don't think it will be too much of an issue. Ive seen bigger turbos even closer. I guess I'll have to go for a decent ride and bring a infrared thermometer to test tire temp
@ForagingYoutube3 жыл бұрын
Got a fz1 too, never thought someone would turbo one😂👍 It started bothering me that your turbo might touch the wheel when the suspension lowers and rises the wheel while braking. 🤔

With my supercharged setup best I seen was 9.6 at 148mph. Personally I don't have a great drag racing clutch hand. Best 60' was a 1.8 haha so that tells a lot. This year I plan to go a lot more and get better. Top speed will change only because ill be changing gearing. Stock gearing on the fz1 will go about 174mph if you have the hp to push it. My bike had enough to max out.

Question. So my coolant system has a leak where the line connects to the block under the throttle bodies. Does the line have a o-ring?

Loving this FZ series! Can you tell Me why you’ve decided to go from supercharger to turbo? More power potential?
@rhetericalpha3 жыл бұрын
we have no twisty roads around here just a drag strip. so I wasn't worried about too much power in corners and the supercharger was maxed out. So yes =) i upgraded for more power for drag racing. still will be on the streets just wanted more for the Drag racing. Glad you are liking the content

Need a scavenger pump like you have
@rhetericalpha2 жыл бұрын
It really comes in handy when you have a turbo lower than the oil pan. TIPS: if using a ball bearing turbo make sure to use the right restrictor too much oil and your going to have a leak on the cold side. A small reservoir with a breather under the turbo will help the draining system. Check valve/cracking valve on the feed side of turbo will help keep oil from continuously flowing to turbo that is lower than oil pan. If it continues to flow while motor is off the cold side and or exhaust side of turbo can leak oil. Smokey starts and worst... oil in intake/intercooler. Not that you needed any of that info but if you did there it is.
