Turbo FZ1 first start 😱

We Finally have lift off of the Turbo Fz1. There was a bit of an issue where the old fuel pump just wasn't up for the task anymore and was dead. so I had to purchase a new fuel High Flow Fuel Pump to do the job. The old man sounds great minus a high idle that will be addressed.

About the fuel pump, that would be my first thought too. Hearing it prime most would think its fine but I knew it just wasn't right im glad I installed a Fuel pressure gauge. I can't wait to chat it up with at a car show soon

Forgot about walboro….it use to be right down road ( it still may be lol I honestly don’t know if they moved) and back in the 80’s my father and I did the Sheetrock and taping in an addition there …..I also had distant family that worked there and was surprised back then to find out they did gas tanks and fuel stuff …..

I have a R1 with a turbo (stock motor) so I run low boost. When that turbo boosts the bike spins my 330 tire w it ease

@@rhetericalpha Ya,RG had a "sidewinder" open race only exh. and a cut oil pan to let him lower the bike more than stock. Chris had the cut tank which allowed him to get lower than stock. And a street exh. Sounds like a wash.

Awesome bike, I wanted to ask what you have done about the clutch being able to hold the extra power???

In this particular video The Turbo setup wasn't pushing the envelope. So it was still a stock clutch with heavy duty cut Springs So it was still a stock clutch with heavy duty clutch Springs. Only because I just got done Turbo charging it. When supercharged that setup held well! With this all out build i switched to a Hays convertible clutch.

You're making me wanting to buy another FZ1. Had 2. Now shopping for another lol. She sounds good. I'm curious what ends up happening on the high idle.

They are good bikes. I'll probably end up keeping mine for their whole life and adding to the fleet. The high idle was a mix of not letting it warm up all the way, no coolant for the first start up which the idle control valve has coolant ports and I needed to adjust the idle screw. Other than that once it got to 185° the idle sat right around 1250.

@@rhetericalpha Nice! Yeah I actually found you cause I was planning on doing the same thing to my 07. Was going to do the TTS, but now I might be considering doing the turbo as well. Right now using the R6 for track days and commuter, but planning on doing the same. What swingarm extension are you running? Just an R1 extension keys?

The TTS kit is pretty good. A few modifications need done to fit but nothing horrible. THE bad is TTS has No customer support to big warning there. As for the extensions yes I used R1 parts. You would need a R1 back rotor, and brake hanger as well to make work. And the original brake hanger/tab on the fz1 swing arm need to be ground down. So if you plan to go back to stock length you would need a second swing arm but those can be found cheap

I used Nylon zip ties. Nylon is very fuel and oil resistant. Some OEM car manufacturers use zip ties in the tank holding wires secure

Absolutely 💯 percent but turboing any bike is not for the faint of heart. Caution, maintenance and being aware of all the new features and items on the bike has to be apart of the new build. It complicates the bike but if you're a tech/mechanical geek you won't mind it.
