My dad had a 88 SS which I didnt know they came with a 305. He swapped a 350 into it once he tached up a rediculous amount of miles on it. It was stock painted gun metal grey & I swear he kept this thing in immaculate condition. We lived in an area of town that was starting to get pretty bad. We moved to a nice side of town because they didnt want me going to the junior high that was close by. Not even 2 months into that house (which was a corner house), his Monte was stolen right from in front of the house. I always told him to park it in the garage because he didnt have an alarm on it & at the time with all of our boxes in the garage, even though it was a 3 car, there was only room for 1 & he decided to let my mom park her '97 Lincoln Town car inside instead. He was going to eventually give the Monte to me before that happen & I ended up being a ford (mustang really) guy. I wonder what things would have been like as a chevy guy. I have a 80mm turbo 03 cobra & a 2010 srt8 challenger i got as a present (i hate dodge lol) but ive had about 4 different fox bodies & a sn95 (all built) before the cobra. Also had a 04 Gto back in the day & Id actually like to have a vette just because one day, so im not like a super die hard ford guy.

Respectfully, its a very nice car, but he has at least twice as much in his engine as my entire car, which is also a mint 84' Monte SS. 350.0" GEN 1 all cast bottom end with Vortec heads and a 150 hit that I drive daily during summer.that runs10's with a 100 hit full tank of gas and conservative tune on pump gas (no E85) and consistent deep 10's when I wick it up. and blend in a little 110 octane with NO turbo lag with a conservative 150 hit. If had a $4500? 4L80E (transmission) with steeper gears than my hand built TH350. I would be in the 9's. My question is who built it and how much did the powertrain and overall build cost. Ck out the budget underground Monte Carlo nicknamed on site accordingly by the loacal in Flint, MI that I built for less than 10 racks (full mint street trim, total sleeper, rust free from TX), including the engine, transmission and GM 8.5" rear that earned its name street racing in Flint, MI. Was only trying to run a 10. It was consistent as it was so no need to beat on it. The car is only legal to 10.00, but has been low 9s many times. It went to a no prep the very next day and went to semi finals on the worn out tires with cords showing. It had more in it.
