I did this exact build down to the 8.8 rear end. It’s in my Jeep and it’s been great. I used Novak everything and it dropped in like it was meant to be. I used Holley terminator x for the management, they make it so easy to integrate into the Jeep. I used an after market gps Speedo and tach so I have gauges. I used east coast gear supply for the 8.8 swap kit again they sell everything cheap to make a painless swap. Cooling will be your biggest issue. I used an Amazon aluminum 4 core radiator for a Yj and it will run 212 in the summer fan always on. Let me know if you want more details or tips and tricks or if you get stuck I’m more then willing to give information.

Yo thanks for sharing! I may have some questions for you in the future here haha thanks. I appreciate it!!

Hell yeah. I got a YJ with a built 2.5 + turbo, but it’s an old build with an AEM that only works with windows XP. I miss V8 torque so I am lookin at getting a junkyard 5.3 and do the same with the existing ax15. Do you recommend Novak for everything? I’ve heard the other good parts source is advance adapters but still researching the options.
@ConnorGuldner6 ай бұрын
@@shize9ine I had an 8 month lead time / back order from advance. I highly recommend Novak but you definitely pay more! Buy once cry once lol. Also I’m super jealous! My original plan was to turbo the 2.5. Such an awesome route to go down.
@shize9ine6 ай бұрын
It’s really fun and makes all the right sounds but the power band is like 4k rpms and on with 32”s. I’ve blown through 3 head gaskets getting spicy on the road and the machine shop told me they can’t deck my head after this one. So instead of a smaller turbo or fire ringing the block V8 is the more reasonable option. You’re gonna have the most smiles per $ with your build and low end torque! If you get rowdy and the ax15 poops itself they’re only like $3-$400. Do you know if you’re going to have to change driveshaft lengths or not there yet?
@ConnorGuldner6 ай бұрын
@@shize9ine I hear you, 4k power and is dangerous with that 2.5, it got pretty pissed off above 4k in my experience 😂. The main reason I’m throwing a turbo kit on the LS is the noises, only planning on running super low boost with a small single turbo! And yes the shafts need to be custom, engine is moved forward about 3” to clear the firewall. A guy at Novak said the stock shafts can be lengthened in the rear and shortened up from by a driveshaft shop for pretty cheap!
@Bobbywolf646 ай бұрын
I'm not sold on the AX15 behind a stock LS, let alone a one with a turbo. I very much doubt it will survive. When I did my swap, I was sad to loose the manual, but I know the 4L60 is way more suited for romping on this thing, and the amount of aftermarket support is huge. Best of luck to you.
@ConnorGuldner6 ай бұрын
Couldn’t stomach loosing the manual :( also icon 4x4 uses ax15s behind their 450 hp crate ls3! So I’m guessing it’ll hold up just fine. My power goals are low!

I am very interested in the QuickTime bellhousing. I like the idea and favor it over the Novak. You may be the only build on KZbin using this bellhousing.
@ConnorGuldner8 ай бұрын
I really like the idea too! Much more simple, cheaper and I like the use of OEM parts for the clutch stuff. However, I actually visited Novak in person and talked with the sides over there for hours, they say theirs is still king due to some design quirks on the QuickDraw unit. (But of course theirs is way more expensive lol) apparently there is no return spring on the clutch fork so it has constant pressure on the clutch fins causing wear super fast or something. I guess I will find out 🤘
