Based on the gauge pod in the dash, I think your YJ was probably originally a 2.5 4cyl. So there's a good chance the gears in the front Dana 30 are 4.10s. They also made the Ford 8.8 in a 4.11s (close enough) so that will work. However the YJ Dana 30 had that stupid vacuum disconnect and are weak so you'll have to find the one-piece axle shaft from an XJ from the same time. The steering column in the YJs are GM-based so there's no reason to use that push button starter. They are easy to take apart even if you have no key and put in a fresh ignition cylinder. Cool project. Keep on rolling.

I picked up a ford 8.8 with the 4.10 gears and a Lsd! Should be a pretty easy swap. And thanks for the info on the ignition! I was just being lazy and didn’t want to read any diagrams lol. I’m planning on just hooking up the stock column ignition eventually

It’s coming along!! It’s awesome to see! I’m in Korea so doing this is not on the list of available things to do. I wanna come back to the states and build another ls turbo swap.

I wanna do this to my 63 cj5, but I might buy an entire different frame to build on while the original frame is still in service. Then one day plop the body over and boom suddenly more death trap than factory

@@ConnorGuldner He still loves them deep down. He is trying to convince himself as much as others lol he basically rebuilt the frame, and every mechanical part was most likely broken and replaced at some point. That's love in my book, idc what he says lol You gonna make that thing loud i Hope?

Does the stock fuel pump work for an ls swap?
@ConnorGuldner8 күн бұрын
It should! If you have a newer fuel injected 2.5 or 4.0 it will work

Are catalytic converters needed for a swap like this in order to run?
@ConnorGuldner6 ай бұрын
Not needed, but could be illegal depending on your location! Getting a car registered is an important part of the build, make sure you know the laws in your area 🤝
