TURBO SLUG - Sounds like Star Wars Blaster

Today we test out one of the weirdest slugs we've ever seen, the Turbo Slug. It's an awkward shape to try to properly use in a 12 ga. and I could have easily prepared these wrong, but this time I did get it right. I think the accuracy problems were due to something I call "paddle-wheeling" where the vanes cause the projectile to deviate off course.

That sound! From an aero perspective, you can ignore the rear vanes as the air flow won't be touching them. Deepen the front portion and add some mass. Then again, that's basically a foster slug. They make them that way for a reason after all!

I think the "turbines" are impellers for a small fluid pump, and have been reduced in diameter by either an engine lathe or hand tools. You can see part of a word cut off on the edge.

I'm sure someone has already commented this, but the 'bottom' end is a turbine, and the top end is an impeller. If this were mounted in a turbocharger housing on an engine, you would feed exhaust to the bottom end to spin the turbine, and that would spin the impeller on the top end to force air into the engine's intake.

I liked all the missed shots too, everything doesn't have to be a "money shot". We are here for the crazy slugs, and the slow mo ballistics. A miss is still great footage, as long as it's captured

Looking at the fan sections, there's an extra bit of metal in the on one side between the two fans that might be throwing off the balance. It might be worth considering getting these things 3d printed to make sure that everything is balanced properly. I'd also suggest replacing the rifle strap nub with a drill bit to add more spin.

That's what I felt was the primary issue. That round ball wind break might give a flat spin effect like a stalled plane going down. Idk about the Giro effects.

printing doesn't guarantee balance. you'd have to mount it on a suspended shaft to check for a heavy side

A custom wadding optimized for it could probably keep it true and consistent, but that take more time to find than building the slug.
