You & Logan just keep on doing what you're doing on the uncle Rob project, looks good from my viewpoint! Excellent work and keep up the good humor and candor between you both, love it! Logan is doing great with mechanical work herself and has been a huge help to you as a result, and you do good problem solving on everything. Mark the pinion nut and shaft with a punch or chisel before removing the nut, keeps bearing preload tight upon reassembly. Some silicone sealer on the back of the yoke and on the splines will keep oil from leaking up the splines when it is serviced. This rig is gonna haul some serious ass. You got this!

This 3 part rear end video was fun to watch both of you working on the butt end, it is nice seeing how you and Logan interact with each other. She is a real mechanic getting dirty and using brake cleaner to clean her hands, I can respect that. Glad to see you are the type of guy like me who tries to figure out how things work and not just have to follow the manual or won't do it. Manuals are great but need to be able to use your brain and do what feels right, especially on older equipment where you can't always just put new stuff. I am slowly working my way through your videos since I found your channel months ago, the NASCAR stuff got my attention, but a lot of these other vehicle videos I find interesting also. Definitely say that breaking videos up into smaller segments is probably better for most viewers, as a lot of people don't have the patients to sit through an hour of video. Also just curious, I got a couple of notifications from previous comments I have left saying to text you for some free stuff. Take the stainless slider clips off of the caliper bracket and grind/file/sand down to bare metal. Use sil-glyde (not astroglide) between the slider clips and the bracket to prevent rust. The rust build up pushes those slider clips in, that's why the pads drag. I use a mini belt sander for best results.

I like to leave the pads off and push in the caliper piston(s) and put the caliper bolts in. Then slide the caliper in and out by hand to be sure the sliders are free. The caliper bolts are almost yearly service up in the rust belt. I drill the bracket out and put a grease zerk in. That way you can give the sliders a squirt of grease, right thru the wheel openings and keep them free.

As someone who spent years with complete disregard for chemicals on my hands, invest in boxes of latex gloves and never use brake cleaner or anything else like that to clean your hands. I know you're thinking to yourself "That shit don't bother me." But in 15-20 years, you're gonna get something on your hands and they'll feel like they're on fire. Then you'll think "Maybe that old dumbass was on to something."

Usually on the brakes, rust forms under the stainless steel hardware, making the pads stick. I take a file and clean the contact points, a wire brush won't remove the scale. Then install the clips and your pads. Your way will work also. Whatever gets the job done

Usually have to take the paint off the contact points of the brake pads, it tends to be thick along the edges. Plus they don't put a lot of energy into the casting of the backing plate, so that usually need a little cleaning up too, for optimal pad movement. People claiming filing the edges a little is dangerous have never worked on a car.
