very helpful thanks. i have a coolant leak from my water pump not sure if it;s te pump or thermostat
@Turbo2312 жыл бұрын
It’s likely the pump, I haven’t done a video on that yet, but I’m sure it’s in my future.

Awesome video thanks I'm having a similar problem on my 03 Buick century, overheating, rough idle. I'm switching out the thermostat soon and thanks to your video I can save on the labor 😂 Also, I bought the car running with water, I live in the tropics what coolant would you recommend? That GM orange that it calls for doesn't convince me. Thank you again for your time and the wonderful video 💪🏼

Neat you comment, I just had to replace this thermostat again. It’s been losing about 10 degrees a year, at some point it doesn’t defrost windows well. Lol. I’ll be flushing my engine shortly, planning on using green ethyl glycol when I’m done.

@@Turbo231 No defrost lol I can't wait for your video. I'm no mechanic just going by what the car tells me or doesn't tell me 😆 I'll look into that coolant brand. Thank you again for your help 🙌🏼

My thermostat is horizontal and located between the air intake and the heat shield. Any tips for getting in there?

I'm replacing a thermostat on my 97 grand prix, do you know if the oring gasket is required?
@Turbo231 Жыл бұрын
Very likely not, I believe that’s a series 2. The series 1 needs a gasket.

Hey Tubro231, thanks for all of the informative videos. My 2000 Grand Prix GTP has white smoke coming out of the exhaust. I am assuming that the head gasket has already gone out. Do you think it is worth to try a Block Seal Head Gasket Fix at this point?
@Turbo231 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, it’s more likely the lower intake manifold gasket and it’s a DIY repair that will take a day and you’ll be right as rain.

Do you bleed the system while running ? Or when off
@Turbo2315 ай бұрын
Both, but usually while running.

Pontiac recommends a 195,but it's too hot for summer. Next time try a 180. You'll still have a good heater.
@Turbo2313 жыл бұрын
It was running about 180 with the old stat, which is why I think I’m gonna put it back in as she likes to get too warm at idle, or tweak my fans for earlier turn on.
@josephcarson87873 жыл бұрын
@@Turbo231 Right. The 195 is just too hot. And the 180 will tweak the fans to turn on earlier.

My car runs really cold ,is that good or bad ,1999 GTP
@Turbo2312 жыл бұрын
Well, if you want performance it’s good, cooler everything generally can mean more horsepower. However means less heat in the winter and lower fuel economy. It’s likely your thermostat is worn out.
@ryans413 Жыл бұрын
It’s bad because you’ll burn more fuel. It’s not a bad thing to have the engine run cooler but you’ll burn more fuel and won’t have much heat in the cabin.
