I just cleaned out my heater core, changed thermostat and water pump yesterday. Still had no heat, and then I found this hidden gem of a video. Dude, THANK YOU so much for this knowledge. It worked within 20 seconds, you are a saint for sharing this info. I will always remember this, for similar situations. THANKS AGAIN!!!

Great advice on the location of the bleed screw. Another site of supposed professional mechanics that try to sell their advice swore there was no bleed screw and that the system would bleed itself. Well it doesn't - you try that and it just overheats because the hot fluid is never getting to the thermostat with all that air trapped in there..... My bleed screw was in the same spot but was a 10mm socket because it's a 2006 Grand Prix, but same idea. Thanks. You saved me a lot of hassle.

I've had an 07 Pontiac for about eight years.. once every 6 months I have to bleed the system.. to find out if you have the problem watch your gauge it will fluctuate up and down over halfway... then turn your heat on hot. If you don't have instant Heat...you have an air pocket in heater core. You can either bleed like shown in this video or sometimes you have to take both heater hoses off spray a garden hose until it comes out the other side.

Shouldn't the engine be running and the heater on max?

Awesome, let me ask you is there a way to clean the goop out of the cooling system? TIA

I figured that out today and it works. I'm guessing that's what it's for? I don't know but it works.

I replaced the thermostat on my 2007 Buick lacrosse 3800 series 3. I added fluid until the radiator was filled but did not get any fluid out of the bleeder screw. What did I do wrong? Wasn't getting heat, changed thermostat. Car did not overheat before or after new thermostat. I went from a 180 to a factory original 192°

I have this same issue right now with my 3800 buick lacrosse. Driver side fan will work for like 30 min after starting the car when it's cold and then it will shut off and force the other fan to come on late and at twice the speed. Error code p0480 fan 1 control circuit malfunction. I've tried fixing every electrical thing relayed to it. Fuses, relays, new connector. Idk what to do anymore. Did you figure yours out?

@@MP-ef6mc well 3 years later from asking why did you have to change coolant elbows I found out why. Just changed mine a few days ago. For the longest I was loosing coolant and had no idea why until the elbow completely blew out.

Just an FYI........you used the wrong antifreeze. You're suppose to use Dex-Cool, which is orange.
@brentwolfe26618 жыл бұрын
It was the universal mix with any color antifreeze
@ChevroletTough7 жыл бұрын
no he didn't. dexcool is recommended but that stuff is terrible if not properly maintained. Universal is best honestly.
