@@exothermal.sprocket Most riders can't get their sports bikes to do 0-60 in 3 seconds or less. It takes a perfect launch. This bike does it without even giving it full throttle in 1st.
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 5 жыл бұрын
60 mph isn't that quick however. But I understand. It's more about the gearing of a particular bike than it is peak power. Most racetrack bikes have a stupid tall 1st gear which makes launching very difficult.

I hope you picked one up. They're a seriously monstrous bike, no turbo needed. Loved the way I could feel the engine idling through the ground under the bike, and the power delivery was nothing sort of frightening stock, a turbo sounds like too much.

Gotta ride one of these one day. The low end hit must be awesome. My 1000cc RR had about 100 pounds and 150 HP and just that felt like it had hellishly strong pull even in the low end, I can't imagine having 240 ft/lb. Please do be careful with this bike though. Even though it will match or even outdo a 1000cc in power it still doesn't have the frame of one for stability at high speeds.

My 'Busa used to shred its back tyre leaving black lines along the road, so I'm sure this baby must do that too! Have you filled in all the white lines yet? PS I also made lots of new friends at all the petrol stations I had to stop at. Great for networking.

Having ridden this incredible machine, I can testify that it's as smooth as butter. The pull is so hard and fast that it blurs your vision. I always thought of it as the Caddilac of bikes. Incredibly balanced; nearly effortless to control . . . it's on a completely different level compared to other bikes.

I remember you saying it "felt as light as a feather" which is saying something for an 800lb bike!
@DavidErdman-JLSRealEstate
@DavidErdman-JLSRealEstate Жыл бұрын
@@brentmiller7901 The amount of torque the Rocket has is so strong, it pulls the 800lbs around as though it doesn't exist. I'm not sure that a person can comprehend this unless they actually ride it. The other remarkable aspect of this bike is that though you're up to 80mph in about two seconds, there is no feeling . . . at all . . . that you're about to fall off the back of the bike. That said, a person would be wise to offer you $22,000 - $25,000 for it. From Nova to Rocket . . . unreal.

Just as the rev counter goes red at about 6,500 revs, I'd put a little marker on the rev counter (maybe a little bright red dot) at the point where the front wheel begins to lift off the ground? --- rally car drivers have for many years marked the centre of the steering wheel with white tape as a visual reminder of when the wheels are facing straight ahead.

I have a rocket 3, owned it for 7 years. One thing I will say is that its very hard to take sharp corners on it, especially hairpins or slightly lesser corners. I ride mine in rural Scotland where the roads are very bendy and sharp, you have to take it easy on the corners there, you just don't know what lies beyond, mud or grit or some tractor parked just round the bend. Don't get me wrong I really know how to ride my rocket, its become second nature to me, but like I say it does not lean over as easy as one might think, after all its not a racing bike, and even if you do lean it over it will peg out very easily, and that can be dangerous. Its designed for cruising on the open road where it comes into its own, nothing will beat it there and I mean NOTHING! All in all, I would not part with it its such a thrill, and I have had many bikes in my life.

I rode my buddies 2013 Rocket 3 at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2023. It was modified but no turbo or supercharger and on very wet salt we got 164 mph. After trying to get it up a bit faster I crashed on the 3rd run. I'm going back in August of 2024 on a 2021 model with just an ECU flash. Hopefully this one handles better.

Not if you set it up properly. It requires extra fuel management hardware and software and has to be tuned just right on a dyno. I don't know of anyone making a kit anymore. You can get a supercharger from TTS in England and Carpenter Racing in the states does engine mods increasing HP without boost. They had a turbo kit in the works but I don't think it ever materialized. Join r3owners.net if you have not already done so. A wealth of information for R3 owners. My username on that forum is Torque addict.

How did you get your rev to 8k rpm?
@brentmiller7901
@brentmiller7901 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure where you're seeing that in the vid. I can only rev to 7k. The rev limit has been adjusted with tune ECU to 6700 and the tach is reading about 300 rpm high in the upper end. The rev limit can be set to 8K with tune ECU but the motor would self destruct at that without some valve work being done first. Carpenter racing bikes can easily do 8k rpm.

@brentmiller7901
@brentmiller7901 7 ай бұрын
It was not the rings but busted piston lands (thin piston area between the rings) on the front cylinder. I'm sure it was detonation that did this. I replaced all three pistons with brand new. Runs beautifully now with no excessive crank case pressure. Yes, I still own the bike and enjoy the massive torque each time I ride it! If you're mechanically inclined at all you CAN fix yours too. Not too difficult. drive.google.com/file/d/17CRLrW_9Reexn2eAy_Q_h2H1OzeNhkAY/view?usp=sharing drive.google.com/file/d/1NsOR7N-LX6CvEFZ4Qs5MVXbL3MZfCUZJ/view?usp=sharing drive.google.com/file/d/17Vdkj5lPKB06VUjF35tiDaXFG3ervKMt/view?usp=sharing drive.google.com/file/d/14oWhCw22lFgaGtVbvD_0KT-07ES_HHBN/view?usp=sharing

Are you still using same turbo? Different tune on new pistons? Did you use stock or aftermarket pistons? Are those links your tear down, findings and repair? And again thank you!

@@CharlieShumakerJr Yes, same turbo. I replaced pistons with stock pistons and had it dyno tuned upon rebuild. Yes, the links are of my tear down and damaged piston. Try the links again. I did not have the sharing permissions set right. You should be able to access now.

Thanks I looked at the pictures. I was hoping to get some aftermarket pistons. Not sure if any available for the lower compression. Did you try find any? If you don’t mind me asking how much did you have in parts repairing it. I will do all the labor. Piston, rings and gaskets I’m assuming. And thank you for all the information sir!

@@CharlieShumakerJr I didn't look for aftermarket. I got a good deal from Carpenter Racing on a brand new set of stock pistons. I can't remember my parts cost but I would estimate you should be looking at between $500 and $1K for all parts for the job (if it's just one piston) if you keep it stock.

02:56 clutch slipping? 6000rpm in 5th should be around 160mph

(previous post relocating here) Are you basing that off of math calculations of gearing and tire size or observation of another R3 speedo at 6Krpms? Remember, unless you've gone into the ECU and calibrated the speedo on an R3 it's reading fast probably by about 7% or so. My speedo is calibrated perfectly to GPS. Also the tachometers on these bikes aren't very accurate. I've had problems with clutch slip on this bike but I don't believe so at the time of this video.
