Made my own from an inexpensive battery mattress inflator and a piece of tubing. Really does work and shortens the cooling time.

I am in South Florida with high temperatures. I got a battery powered fan for me just cool myself early in the game. Saw a adaption for the battery for fill mattress. Used a modified chamber protector in the rifle and connected to the blower . Super volume of air but super loud.

I use a Ryobi high volume inflator. It uses the same 4ah batteries as my drills and other tools. I use a hose attached that fits into the action and blows powerful air inside my barrel. It lasts all day at the range with a 4ah battery.

How noisy is it though? Nothing I hate more than dudes at the range with the noisiest setups..
@DworkinB2 ай бұрын
@lachlanmcgovern3104 A bit louder but less high-pitched than the MagnetoSpeed. That's why i wait for everyone to finish the string before I turn it on. I'd recommend the same for any barrel cooler though. The whine is annoying and ear pro seems to pick it up really well.

I’ve seen some shooters use these to cool barrels between strings of fire. The one they were using had an adapter so you could set it in the breech and leave it to run hands free. I saw that on X-ring KZbin channel on his recent video shooting a cheap rifle at a mile. Torque test channel did a comparison of different brands of these if you want to check how they perform compared to each other.

This is cool, my mate has a chargeable aircon that's about the size of a toaster. It works amazingly well in the summer heat, even in direct sunlight.

Seems like great idea, also seems as though a few folks already use something similar. From the comments it sounds as if people are concerned about noise. For those maybe a hose where the motor could be put below table/shooting platform to cut down in noise. Great idea, may even come in handy with other uses as well.

Kudos to your review, but especially for thicker Barrels like the ones usually used in precision rifles there can be the issue of cracking. Go to Paint and draw a cut through the Barrel (small ring inside large ring). When the barrel gets heated up from firing, heat goes from the inside to the outside. Metal expands more towards the center ring first, but it basically can't deform anywhere until the heat gets to the outer layer as well. Now imagine a heated-through barrel which gets cooled on the inner ring first, then the metal also "shrinks" there first. Small cracks will open up more. Now you shoot again and stress the material around the bore again, also blowing hot abrasive gas through those cracks. I personally only use my barrel cooler for my Semi-Automatic Rifles with thin barrel profiles and let them cool through completely.

Clearly not available for us Seppos, but good on ya for promoting local manufacturers. I personally have thought for decades about a built in cooling system for rifle barrels, only to be told that it wouldn't be allowed for competitive shooting. That's okay. I wouldn't be competitive anyway!

Espacially with Supressors on the Range it is worth to get something like this / i have a cheap Cordless Airpump where i put a Silicone Tube on it that fits in the Chamber works like a Charm instead of waiting up to 20 Minutes between Groups at hot Temperaturs you can cool the Supressor and Barrel in 3-5 Minutes
