Impressive locomotive, certainly looked grand sprinting along with those Pullmans!

Brilliant, I've seen electric Locomotives that don't run that well.

Werner... Do you have an drawings for the turbine??
@wernerje11 жыл бұрын
I do not have a reasonable drawing, but the turbine is fairly well described in a Gauge 1 Model Railway (G1MRA) Newsletter Nr. 212, Winter 2006-7, albeit from its former live, powering the "Mathematiker*. The only difference is the change in the last stage of the reduction gear to account for the differences in diameter of the driving wheels. Please contact me by e-mail should you have problems locating this Newsletter.

Werner, out of interest do you think your turbine could be scaled up for a gauge 3 (2.5 inch/64mm) locomotive?
@wernerje10 жыл бұрын
John, it depends on what performance you expect to get out of your engine. Tell me the pulling force required at the loco hook (in Newton, measure it on an existing consist) and the actual speed you would like to run at (in m/s). This gives you the pulling power required. With engine and its gear train equipped with ball bearings, my experience tells me that the the turbine power output would have to be doubled. (my 30mm dia. turbines (the maximum I can fit inside the loco frame) produce 4 to 5 Watt).
