Great video! Die hard TG16 fan here. I remember the day buying this system back when it launched in ‘89

"Despite all this, Aero Blasters has a really addictive quality to it, even after losing everything multiple times, you'll always feel like jumping right back in." Yep, I agree, this game is like an abusive relationship you can't get out of because love happens. - Abraham Lincoln

So now I’m watching it for a second time so I can take notes on the games’ names! Emulation is my donkey in the race, of course, since I don’t have a TG16. Another great video! (I don’t think the Jackie Chan gave is up my personal alley though. 😂) Oh, and nice work finding a way to use the word “bloviate” in this video! 😁😎😁😎👍🏻

I love the word bloviate almost as much as I like to bloviate 😎

@ I pontificate myself, so I understand. Usually when I go on a tirade, I imagine The Lord Humongous in Mad Max going off in a rage. 😂

My younger self actually beat Aero Blasters, just once. I was playing it a lot, and I remember being so proudly blown away when I finally beat it. What a great game that is. Looks better than any other HuCard based horizontal shooter on the system in my opinion. I'm always surprised more people don't talk about that one. Final Lap was another one I always thought was so cool.

Oh man I can't even imagine beating it lol. Let alone without save states on an original system.
@ParanoiaDragon2 күн бұрын
@@Johnnygrafxmy friends and I definitely beat it back in the day, but only with cheats. There's no way with my low level of skill that I would have been able to beat that game

Now Productions did a good number of games for both Namco & Hudson for the PCE, including Final Soldier. But also Dragon Saber, Bravoman, Genpei Tohmaden 1 & 2, New Adventure Island, & Splatterhouse among several others. They are a solid team and seem to know the hardware pretty well. I love the RPG mode of Final Lap Twin, and wanted to work with some people to make a spiritual sequel on the pce but it never happened. But I can't get into World Court Tennis and I think it's just because I'm not good at tennis games. Plus I always wished that game had music when you're playing tennis against your foes. I feel like that would have gone a long way to improve the game.

I luv me some aero blaster or air buster depending on your console and region. I grew up playing the genesis version but I've always been envious of the nec version's animated ending.

I love Final Lap Twin Quest mode. This game coined future titles like this that’s sports based RPGs.

Great list John! Final Lap Twin was one of the first games I bought (and it’s relatively cheap!) Chew Man Fu is on my list, I’ve seen a few reasonable offers to buy it. I’ve played this whole list, would love to add some more to the collection but it’ll take some time!

Yup and you're going about it the right way! Excited for you to add more games to your collection 🙂

I see a lot of new homebrew games being released for old consoles, I hope some are made for the TG-16, I am curious to see what can rrally be done on it, it would have been nice to see a few Squaresoft games get released on it that really took advantage of the color palette. I was surprised at how few JRPGs were released for it, I would have thought it was a great platform for those types of games.

There's a handful of homebrews for the TG out there. I'm actually working on a video about the currently. But yeah, square would have been great on the system!

Do you have a background in tv production or something? Your editing and presentation style is leagues better than anyone else doing these types of viseos but in an understated way

Appreciate the compliment! And yes, I worked in tv for about a year and radio for about 3 years.

My highest recommendation as far as PC-Engine hidden gems go is Capcom’s Son Son II. Yoshiki Okamoto is such a genius gameplay wizard🤩
