8:32 The display is usually not calibrated by the factory. They just slap it on. You have to go into the settings and change the wheel size to the actual wheel size it has to get the correct measurement displayed.
@AlienRides
@AlienRides 4 жыл бұрын
Yup, good observation. It actually came with 11 as the setting, which is actually the correct tire size, but folks are saying it's accurate at 10.2 or so. Maybe we'll try again with a GPS recording.
@johnpickering2008

@@AlienRides yeah because car wheels are measured at the rim while e scooter wheels are measured as tyre diameter. So the display is calibrated for rim measurement. it's the same on all scooters even a JueShuai X48 when reading 49kph was acturally going about 41

We're to the point where a scooter with this kind of performance should really do away with folding stem. They tend to be a liability on all scooters and 50mph is not the place to fool around
@AlienRides
@AlienRides 4 жыл бұрын
I think it's nice to have the folding mechanism, but it needs to be well done, like Rion. They have a simple latching system, but it feels super secure.
@delbomb3131
@delbomb3131 4 жыл бұрын
@@AlienRides i agree they're nice to have on portable devices, but you could easily improve safety and lower the cost of high performance rides. IMO holding onto that bastion of portability is holding back high end high performance scooters. Like it's trying to pretend that it's something that it isn't. I'm not saying remove the option on all scooters, but one of these hyper car edition scooters really needs all the strength possible. Removing that common fail point is a huge benefit

@@AlienRides not quite the same, but you should see some of the roads out here in Texas. It's scary even in a car sometimes. I'm thinking of sections of I-10 and other roads where they poured them with concrete slabs. After a while instead of concrete slabs you had concrete ramps. Some of the roads in downtown Houston are pretty terrible and out here in Dallas. But I also kicked around on skateboards and older kick scooters, not to mention my first EV, a razor electric scooter with a friction drive motor that went a whole 15 mph. That thing was fun but you really had to be careful on those little 6-in wheels. Then I got a gas powered one that had 12-in wheels and disc brakes. there were some bumps around my place that would jar the teeth out of your head. I could get that one up to 45 mph. It was pretty cool, the angriest two-cycle motor you ever heard.

I knew it! Everyone told me I "had the modes wrong" when I only got this thing to ~52mph! It's still a fast scooter, but nothing from the Zero/turbowheel/Apollo lineup can get 60mph. Yet. Another thing. I believe the steering dampener was on backwards on your scooter. When you steer the bar should protrude toward the front. When I measured the actual diameter of the inflated tires it was more like 10 ¹/² inches, which accounts for the speed difference between advertised and actual. P.S. that drone footage in the fog is epic, well done mate.

Yeah I think low 50s on flat ground is more likely. Nice observation around the tire size, I bet slightly larger tires would help achieve 60mph. Nice seeing you 👽🖖

GPS-verified 56.7mph on my friend's Phaeton. Can likely do a little more, since he's a heavier guy. Those road-side MPH readouts aren't that accurate either. The panther can be fitted with an excellent proprietary damper (errex damper), and replacing the original deck by a larger one goes a long way to improve its overall stability. Made in korea will largely outlast any made in china rebrands so that's better for an urban commute oriented escooter. On the other hand the inverted C suspension chinese TG rebrands like the phaeton are exceptionally fun as an off road beater.

Thank you again for a program that’s for veteran riders, unlike Chuck’s. However maybe u should watch OUT for Chuck... His last (APOLLO) video, with Apollo’s owners, was real MEAT!!!! Truly great info on the LUDO’s controller. I’m all about this possibly rare diamond in our scooter world. Seems like it could maybe be a one-time chance to get a scooter with both linear accel AND E-braking. In the video the owners said that they blew up and burned up a lotta stuff before getting that controller harnessed. Also, of note, RION was interested in the same controller, but haven’t to date, been able to incorporate it into their line. That controller is probably a hand grenade, just waiting to explode. LOVE IT. I’m 66 years old. When I go out, I want it to be riding on a hand grenade at 60 miles an hour, with my hair on fire...

Thanks for stopping by! Chuck and ESG do a really good and detailed job. I'm supposed to be getting the "Ludo" shortly, so we'll see what it's capable of. Rion was supposed to use the same Stormcore controller, but turns out they can't handle the amps of the Rion, so they explode. Shame because it would be amazing on the Rion.

Had the same issue on the Kaabo Mantis 8 showing incorrect speedo readings. You could check the number of magnets on the P settings. Adjusting that will also make a huge difference. I had to adjust mine down from 30 to 20 and now my speedo virtually matches the GPS readings. Hope it works for you!
@robertbritt3129
@robertbritt3129 4 жыл бұрын
@@Ptoksik be careful with those settings bro the amount of magnets may affect your Speedo reading but regardless you need to tune that with tire diameter. You need the speed controller to accurately know the actual number of magnets in the motor. Its a brushless system bro dont lie to your controller unless you want extra resistance less range and more heat in your components all bad but hey at least you have your Speedo reading correct?

It's hard to say really because no one has seen the Dualtron Storms yet, and Dualtron has also suffered from quality problems for it's first generation of new models (e.g., Dualtron X headsets breaking, dualtron mini rim issues, etc). Personally my recommendation is to not wait, because who knows how long it's going to take for the Storms to get here and have any first gen quality issues to be worked out. My recommendation would be to get either this one, or the Currus Panther actually, which I find the Panther to be higher quality than Dualtron.

Anyway just planning to buy an entry level only but Im constraint on the range it can get me...the speed not so much a factor plus to be honest the budget (paying lots of mortgage and son’s education). But basically really to keep me sane so to speak nowadays. Planning the ever popular Xiaomi Mi pro 2 but the range is quite short likewise the suspension since Im quite heavy 80 kilos and some potholes here and there here in Manila,Philippines. So I think will be force to go midrange for suspension and range....any affordable mid range lower than that china e-scooter which is durable too and ease to load in an crossover suv or probably option to bring along in case need to ride metrotrain or MRT/LRT...any recommendation would highly appreciate your opinion especially you ipted to do several research, trials and think modification or opted for high end models and specs. Cool video! I love the lighting in the fog look. It is great to see another power scooter. For me a scooter should remain at least somewhat portable or I would rather have something like an Onyx RCR or a Zero motorbike to go above 40MPH. I have very limited room to store my PEVs in the garage so I have to be very mindful of space. Even folded down the Phaeton would be difficult to put in the back of my SUV without the seats folded down. The Thunder can at least fold down into a pretty small space since it also has folding handlebars and a much better folding mechanism in general. It says a lot that you think it is comparable to a Thunder as I have found Dualtrons to just feel more solid compared to other scooters I have experienced. I have the Nikola 100V coming this week as I switched from the MSP since it won't be available until the end of this month. It will stand next to my Dualtron Compact neatly in the garage. The Compact barely takes up more space than a small commuter scooter when it is folded. I sold my Mantis and gave away a couple more scooters so I have cleared up space :) I almost have my 3" ducted cinema quadcopter ready to go. I just need a few more parts. It will have the ability to carry a GoPro for better video quality while still having digital video coming back to my goggles. It should easily hit 65MPH so it should be able to chase down most PEVs. It would be cool to get some low shots of your speeding and do some quick acrobatics around you to get a different shot. I always wanted to fly through a group of riders with my smaller, prop-guarded quads to get a unique shot without introducing a big threat with exposed propellers like my bigger quads would introduce.
@AlienRides
@AlienRides 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, good point about the huge size of the Phaeton and storage, not everyone can fit a beast like this. As you can see my garage is already suffering 😅 Awesome about the Nikola, let me know how you find it. When you're ready, let's go film something with your drone. I'm sure we can gather a small group of riders and setup shots. Maybe we can do a music video with some of that footage? Would be fun!

Huh that doesn't sound good, where did you get it from? The seller should be able to get you parts to fix it no problem. We stand behind our vsett scooters with a 2 year warranty. 👽🖖

Indeed, it's definitely dangerous which is why people should definitely gear up at higher speeds. I do think that these have the ability to be safe with additional safety features, like the damper here helps a lot. 👽🖖

As you mentioned the folding mechanism is a little complicated and takes too many things to do plus handlebar is not foldable and there is no lock to lock the handlebar when it's folded! if it was lighter, at least 100lbs then it could go faster and maybe longer range! but there is a question I would like to have the answer maybe sounds funny but is there any option to combine the front and rear brakes into one lever? with one lever could control the brakes and split the power between front and back equally or we could set up the way we are comfortable!
@AlienRides
@AlienRides 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, lighter might be nicer, but then you’re looking at an aluminum, or likely carbon fiber frame which is going to be very expensive. Haven’t heard of controlling both brakes with one lever, but that would be interesting.
