Just remember a couple things when you buy base and try to upgrade. When you upgrade, you end up paying parts and labor twice. Once for the new parts, then for the upgraded parts. Factory original has or at least should have everything matched. A bigger engine may have a heavier trans, driveline, suspension parts, different gearing. And, since the parts are not factory original they may not add anything to resale value I worked for Deere. They had 125, 150, and 175 hp tractors that all had 404 cubic inch engines. Customers thought they were identical, just bigger fuel systems on the higher horsepower ones. Actually the valves, rods, radiators, pistons, crankshafts, transmissions, rear axles, etc. were all beefed up in the higher hp units. One extremely important thing were the head bolts. The higher hp units had bigger, stronger bolts to hold the extra combustion pressure. Owners would turn up the injection pumps on the 125 hp units then wonder why they had failures If you think you can simply double the hp in an engine and run it continuously at higher power, you’re only fooling yourself. If you drive more conservatively you can probably get by. Research Dunning Kruger effect if you’re not familiar

Depending on what you are going for, you may or may not care about the Sasquatch, but if you are building a base, get the Sasquatch. If you are building an OBX/BL/BD and don't necessarily need the sasquatch package, unless you are running 35 or larger tires. The 4.46 and 4.27 differentials are plenty for 33's or 34's. I am stopping at 33.5" tires, so the 4.27 is plenty fine. You still can have the rear locker (or both lockers in the case of the non-sasquatch Badlands). The non-sasquatch Badlands suspension has the most articulation in the HOSS 2.0 suspension (which was $1300 to retrofit to my OBX). The 2.7 is the better choice overall.

Agree, ordered an Outer banks SASQ package: OBX leather , heated seats etc. 2.7 with the 4.70 gears , lockers front/rear and the hard top. I could have got the base model with a 2.7 but would have cost way more to build to the same spec or better than just ordering a SASQ. The only option I couldn’t get with this package was the front sway bar disconnect…..I don’t plan to do extreme off roading so it wasn’t a big deal not to have….all I’ve done is perf upgrades …tune and exhaust so far… Very happy with the way it looks and performs…

Will that mean if you want to fit 37's on a Non-Sas, you can add their aftermarket crash bars for added safety? I really want a 2.3L manual Badlands non-sas to add aftermarket full suspension. Originally the Fox pkg, but I think ICON is coming out with their own with Tune dampening on the fly.

@@MUHLMEDIA From what i am reading from Icon the safety bars are for 35” only. But hopefully they may make some other ones for larger tires, of course the taller you go the more your at risk for a rollover for normal road driving. Safety is my concern, my wife has a big bend 4dr soft top, i am thinking base sas 2dr, but have also now seen a video on issues with removing the rings, people are breaking bolts from factory cross threading. I wish i could pick each option i want, the levels they have are BS.

What I cannot believe is the astronomical prices some people will pay for these newer 4wd vehicles - that have piss-poor fuel economy, despite being powered by a 4-banger... Deleting important safety features to 'upgrade' with larger tires that will only decrease fuel economy even further - and put an enormous strain on the OEM suspension / steering components. How is this a 'cheap' build? Even with a 4.5% interest rate on a $350K loan and $5K down, you're looking at paying about $840 mo for 5 years. Why not put $840 month into building an older vehicle that's easier to modify and find aftermarket parts for?

Because this is the next new thing and people become obsessed with street cred. KZbin allows us to see how much money people spend on things we don’t understand. This is not normal and shouldn’t be adopted by most people if financial security is your concern.

@@ThatOneGuyWithTheEye - congratulations on your OG Bronco! Sounds sweet! My story: The company that i co-own covers a tri-state area (Cali/Nev/Az). We have three 2.7 ecoboost F-150s in our fleet! The mileage logged so far is 45k 167k, and 180k. The vehicle with 45k is replacing our 2.7 mule that logged 227k before being given to one of our workers as a personal vehicle (still driven daily). We have experienced ZERO mechanic failures (we posted this on F150 forums). When they announced that engine choice for the Bronco, we jumped at it based on our experiences. This is their bread-and-butter engine and has been around for 7 years in 8 different vehicles (including fleet vehicles) and there are over a million on the road! The sample size is enormous and the body of evidence suggests that this is indeed a robust and reliable engine! The engines that you are referring to were all produced during the peak of Covid (shortage of personnel, alternative vendors, shortage of parts.) I believe that most of the failures were due to brittle valves from a replacement vendor that they no longer utilize! Take from it what you will, but the engine and transmission are solid IMO!

All after market options shouldn't need financing with a CC or whatever, interest will eat you alive. Financing anything like this should only be for the vehicle. When people understand how much the mods cost etc they are willing to pay a little extra as it would cost them more to get the mods themselves. Ex: I had a 2012 mustang gt with 80k and full offroad exhaust with tune. The current market price was about 24k in canada. I ended up selling it for 30k. 2 years ago u had a 17 f150 5.0 with 80k on it. Had a BDS 4 inch lift and 35 nitto trail grapplers. Truck was worth around 30k market value. Sold it for 38k. There's anytime I traded in a modified vehicle to a dealer they paid more for the mods because they know it will sell almost instantly because it's modified to attract a certain type of buyer.

@@derekparisian2023 never going to cover the cost of mods upon resale

@@robob221 you're not good at reading I can tell. I never said you would recoup the full cost of the mods you put in. I said aftermarket accessories do up your resale value from the average vehicle. Someone is more inclined to pay a little bit more for a vehicle that has a few thousand dollars or more in aftermarket accessories as they do not have to pay full cost to put them on themselves. You can't tell me vehicle that had thousands of dollars of mods is worth the same as a stock one. Like I've eaid I've owned lots of vehicles where I sunk lots of money in mods and they sold way more than a stock vehicle sold in the dame year/mileage/trim etc.

If you are going to actually wheel it buy the base model. LS swap it throw away the drive train put full width tons under it with PSC hydro assist or full hydro on coilovers on 40s. But that's just me LOL. It would be sick looking tho.

You guys need to stop using SAS as an abbreviation for sasquach. The 4x4 wold has already been using SAS for "solid axel swap" since the dawn of time.

BIGGEST REASON FOR SASQUATCH == FACTORY WARRANTY. Anything aftermarket is whatever warranty the manufacturer of those parts will give you.

Man, I thought this was a great, very pointed look at the Bronco, no vanilla content, facts and commentary backed by more facts. I do think the 47 busted 2.7T is a bad mark for Ford and I'm a Ford guy, that's still high for today's near perfect record with engines. But it doesn't matter to me, my heart is set on getting a 2023 Bronco Base with the Sasquatch Package. I had considered getting a base...Base, and then buy the wheels and tires, but it comes with too many other things that would be trouble to upgrade. I also have the philosophy that the manufacturer puts a lot of money in R&D to balance and hone packages just right. If I get in and mess with the suspension and other things, I may not match things as well as they did. I don't plan on doinng radical things with it, but do plan on trailing it and having some fun. Our dealers down here are MSRP dealers, so I shoul dbe able to see $40-44K or so, but I have to wait. Thanks again for the video.

Great Video, you could go with the Badlands without the Sasquatch and save a bit of money to go aftermarket wheels and tires. While still getting all the gearing and axle upgrades. 2” lift is around $200. I kindof wish I went that way with mine. I ended up with a Badlands Squatch and now I’m shopping after market wheels. 🙄

I have the badlands and I'm wondering what mods are needed just to go up to the 35s. Can the 35s be put on the same 17 inch rim or do I need new rims? Do I NEED the 2 inch lift kit? Do the crash bars need to be removed for 35s? Any info would help.

@@antimatter2380 Remove the crash bars, keep your 17” wheels and get a 2” spacer lift and your good for 35”
@Snookchaser007

@@antimatter2380 275/80/R17 will fit no mods needed. 275/80R17 = 34.3X10.8R17 So these are not quite 35” but close enough The badlands non Sasquatch comes with 285/70R17 = 32.7x11.2R17 The badlands already sits higher than other models in non Sasquatch. The slightly narrower 34.3” tire will make up some room in the wheel well during articulation. You will have to remove your crash bars. The only maker I know of in this size is a good year wrangler mud terrain so don’t go white wall out. We don’t want wrangler on a Bronco lol

I keep configuring broncos but then I realize that San Antonio, where I live is severely lacking in off road and Mt Bike trails. Really no need for a 4X4 here. I already have a 4X4 ford F150 Lightning that I love and in a pinch it has a locking rear end but like I said, no where to off road here.
