gg! Smugglers here, I couldn't believe your army walking up from the south just after I destroyed the airfield on my border @1:32:00. The early bounty on myself for Landsraad standing was to try to get to 400 as soon as possible as it gives a 15% discount to buying CHOAM shares, which is huge late game. Your early triple blue in main base also had me worried about a gov victory, so I was banking a lot of influence on most of the charter votes as only Speaker, Gov and Loss of Rights really matter for political victory. I kept pillaging instead of liberating your border villages because: people tend not to respond as much, it's faster, and I was confident I could win via CHOAM before anyone else did via hegemony. Smugglers get big bonuses to pillage returns, so each village raid was worth about 2% of the shares.

I am no expert at Ecaz, but one thing I thought about is slowly replacing all your units with their respective "Super" version. Maybe like one at a time while you're at peace w/ everyone. Next time maybe! I really enjoyed seeing you play Ecaz instead of Harkonnens for once XD

Before you make a region your sanctuary make it have 5 master pieces then abandon it. Then make it a sanctuary.

Dune noob question: Turin mentioned capturing his sanctuaries late in the game to jump up in hegemony. At ~134:30 when the choam victory condition appeared, it looks like there are two options; out purchase choam, or go for the soonest win condition. How would you be able to gauge whether or not you could stall out by buying choam? Would it have been possible for Turin to split his army and try to get sanctuaries and race for a hegemony win? It seemed like smugglers read the situation perfectly with Turin set to win speaker and then gov at the next Landsraad, they made their choam push well timed. This game is so much fun to watch, just hard to decipher key points when there are so many ways to win.

So about being able to determine buying choam or not and trying to stall it out, it really depends on your econ. Turin's econ this game was not good (he was in the red a lot of it) and he only went 10% choam to be able to get the influence bonus. In other situations, say you're playing as Corrino or Hark, usually your econ will be robust to try to push for more choam buying. As for him trying to go for hegemony win, with smuggs being THAT rich and so far head, it would of been impossible. Turin's Authority generation at the end was 0.5 a day, and you need several hundred to capture one province at that point. However, it is a very common strategy for factions like Ecaz (their sanctuaries) and Hark (their pillage villages) to save regions to capture in the late game to push a hegemony win quicker.

Ecaz gets 30 free votes on each resolution for their 10k hedge bonus, so putting 10 votes into house minor resolutions is actually free if you take the time to look

You seem to have mentioned multiple times that you being ahead of the Fremens in hegemony is a bad thing. I dont get it, why?

Leading in hegemony will always put a target on your back (bad landsraad votes, having towns raided, etc) and the deeper into the game you get, the bigger that target is. There wasn’t an in game buff or anything he was just hoping to use the Fremen as a political shield

I'm glad you tried this specific Ecaz counselors that i've mentioned in a precedent video. There is still room for improvement, like puting art in your futur sanctuary from the start, etc ... but no judgment here, i'm still learning it and i'm way much worse than you at this game. Anyway, i know it's a lot different from Harkonnen but i hope you still liked it ;)
