As someone who grew up competing in different school and outside of school activities where we had to travel to far away places, this touches deep. Did it since grade school even until Uni. Touches way too close. 😭 Only ever experienced a typhoon/hurricane while competing that flooded an entire town with the lowest being knee deep and they had to evacuate us at wee hours in the morning. Cut off the roads home because the bridges that around 4 stories deep were overflowed and currents were too strong even as we were trying to go out of the building we were sleeping the day before. This happened sixth grade. Imagine not being able to wake up at all and being crushed under tons of heavy concrete when the last thing you had in your mind before going to sleep is being nervous but excited to compete. Then those who might have been able to wake up from the earthquake only to be overwhelmed with everything falling.

Unthinkable to imagine a modern appearing hotel would not have been constructed to withstand this catastrophe. Sadly it was not to be and these wonderful young people have tragically fallen victim to someone else's negligence.
@1t_wasnt_me Жыл бұрын
It's not negligence, it's CORRUPTION! The amount of brown envelopes that change hands in EVERY country & EVERY aspect of life now, is basically unstoppable, but it's all because they all think & believe that this kind of thing will never happen. The one's most responsible for this, will most likely never face any repercussions from this because there will be scape-goats to pass the buck down to.

How terrible. I live in earthquake prone Chile where we have strict building codes an am amazed by how little reinforcing steel is in the rubble in Turkey. The earthquake could not have been avoided but the deaths certainly could have.

My heart is torn. I have cried many times for people I don't know. They are human and feel pain just like me. So many lives lost. As a world we should all be helping and holding each other up no matter race or color. I'm ashamed my country has not stepped in and helped from day 1. Our government can send Billions to Ukraine but not to where it's really needed. Much love and prayers for everyone. Peace for all the souls lost.
