Dr. Stefanie, I turned 70 today and I found you. I have been doing procedures for twenty years and will share. MY thoughts with you and this community There is a life style a person must maintain to achieve better results. Drink water, eat good food, exercise, use sunscreen, check out the person you will have working on you. See what she or he looks like. Check out the clients in the waiting room to see what they look like. Don’t go for a cheap price or fly by night institutes in a strip mall. A good doctor will cost money. Be prepared to spend. On the other hand you don’t have to spend a fortune on luxury skincare. I incorporate Nivea into my daily skincare routine every day. Lastly be very realistic with your results. Even the best doctor can’t make you look forty years younger. Now I am off to Pilates.❤

Maria, i did Thermage on my face, chest, tummy, legs with disappointing results. 70 years old is too old for the thermage in my case. I focus on clean skin, I wash my face every day with a mild forming cleanser, followed by an eye serum, face serum, mixed with argon oil. I finish up with a little Nivea and sunscreen, even in winter. I do not die my hair anymore, but I do have a cut every two months to keep the shape I do manicure and pedicure and I don’t leave my house without lipstick. So the new goal for me in this stage of my life is to look as current and fresh as I can dress appropriately but fashionably I don’t want to look desperate. in a few weeks, I will have micro blading on my eyebrows. I would really like to know what other men and women of a certain age do to look current, fashionable and appropriate please answer. Thank you.

I had thermage treatment in my mid 50's basically to my face and some down my neck. I believe I was just in the hands of the wrong operator. That was the biggest waste of money I ever spent. It was very painful and no results. I am 66 years old now. The operator was once a facial reconstructive doctor, so one would have thought he knew how to operate the machine. He literally talked me into having this done. Sometime after the consult, when my appointment came, he said, "now what are you in here for?" LOL. Then proceeded to tell me my skin looked nice. That's when I should have jumped out of the chair and ran! Months later, I went to one of the girls there for a facial. At the desk there was another lady he was trying to talk into having the thermage done. He looked at me and said, tell this lady how nice it turned out. First of all, that was breaking my privacy by telling a stranger what I had done, and secondly, I told her it was a waste of money and did not work 🤣. I do believe after watching this video. it depends on who is operating the machine. Sometimes we have to learn from our mistakes. Great video.

😊And one more question… I’m a professional violinist and have played this instrument since I was four years old. I’m almost 70 now and of course, my neck skin and tissues have very much been affected by holding this instrument under my left jaw. It’s held almost under the angle of the jaw. And it is also very supported by the clavicle and triceps. The instrument itself is not very heavy-maybe 1.5 lbs.-but I’m holding it for literally hours at a time. I teach of course and also perform so my neck gets a lot of workout. The chin rest (misnamed, it should be called a jaw rest), pushes the skin/tissues under the jaw forward so that you end up looking like you have a balloon under your neck. Is this an area I should just forget about doing anything to bc I’m not stopping violin anytime soon.🥴
@DrStefaniKappel Жыл бұрын
I feel in your case that is just apart of you and actually really special. Its like surgeons always having tough skin on their hands from scrubbing for so many years. I say just leave it be because anything you do may compromise they way you hold or feel when playing the instrument. Congratulations on your successful career s a violinist! That is amazing

I am interested in products for my neck. It looks pretty good. However, I do have slight laxity underneath my chin. I would like to tighten and maintain that area. As a lover and user of Sculptra it was disappointing to hear it is your least favored option for use on the neck . I do trust my provider but will proceed with caution. I actually believe my neck is benefiting from the Sculptra used along my jawline. It's looking better for sure. Maybe a combination of different at home products and the Sculptra.🤔 Thank you for all the info you share.

Dr.Stephanie, this is an old video so not sure if you still recognize comments? But, I had the fraxel done when it first came out and I believe the plastic surgeon was new at operating it and possibly had settings wrong but, don’t know for sure. I had tremendous pain during the procedure and had numbing cream on for an hour in advance. I ended up with major swelling that lasted 5 days. I looked like a sumo wrestler. That was several years ago, but, I thought it was a lunch hour procedure not , a big recovery time. In any case I wondered if it was an allergic reaction or operator error. I went to some one reputable that I still respect because mistakes happen . I just never finished treatment after having that unexpected painful and slow recovery. Any thoughts on this?

I love your videos and have done a lot of research on various procedures. The only area I think you're lacking is doing more unbiased research on microneedling, especially when paired with radiofrequency. As you've pointed out: thermage gets a bad rap because many people have had their fat melted. Similarly many people have had scarring or no results with microneedling. I see a wonderful NP who can do medical microneedling on me and I have not gotten radiofrequency done as I went to her freaking out about it melting my fat. She talked me through the issues you've mentioned with energy devices and user error. I've never gotten any treatments done until now at the age of 38 as I haven't had any signs of aging until recently--a bit of unnoticeable (to most people) jowling and neck laxity. So far I've noticed in just two treatments of face and neck, a lift. Like I'm happy with my results. I do not swell much or get very red. But that said, it does do a similar thing on a cellular level by kick starting fibroblasts into producing collagen and elastin. I don't think it's good for moderate and severe laxity, or wrinkles, etc. but for those of us with mild signs of aging, it may be an option. It is pretty painful but no down time. At least for me which is very important. I do not want to be walking around red and bruised. I'm quite prone to bruising. That said--I would LOVE to get THermage done but I do not know how to find a reliable and skilled expert. I've read so many horror stories I'm terrified. I weighed the pros and cons of both collagen induction therapy aka microneedling and the thermage energy based approach and found myself being able to find a reputable NP for microneedling. I'm wondering if you have a list of practitioners nation wide you trust? I live in NY so seeing you would not be possible. You do know your stuff and your face tells me you know what you are doing. It's hard to tell. As not all MD board certified cosmetic dermatologists have started at a young enough age to really get such amazing results like yourself. So I guess, how do you know if the person who is performing any heat based/energy based treatment on you will not F up your face? lol To put it bluntly. What are tips?

Thanks for the informative video! Will Thermage work on neck laxity due to weight loss? Or does that require a surgical lift? ❤
@sable7114 Жыл бұрын
Thermage, about 12 years ago, didn't do a thing for my neck or face except leave a few burn marks. Luckily I won it in a drawing so did not have to pay for it but I guess I'm wondering if it should have been done more than once.

Hi Dr. Stefani! I love learning from all your content… ❓❓❓I have a question about a treatment called EMFACE -I am considering this for more lift. It is described as It’s one of a kind facial laser treatment which targets muscles and skin simultaneously to tighten, lift, and tone the face and helps restore the facial contours all without pain, downtime or the use of needles. EMFACE™ uses Synchronized RF and HIFES™ technology . The buzz is that it’s showing good results so far… It’s relatively new. Wondering what your thoughts are ? Your opinion is so important to me. Thank you!

I love EmSculpt but not EmFace. Botox is one of the best antiaging treatments we have. It works by softening muscle movement to relax wrinkles. So doing a procedure that goes against that is counterproductive, making wrinkles and etched in lines worse.

Hello Dr! I found super helpful this video. Want to start to asking you, that I’ve been doing Botox tx on my neck but for some reasons don’t last more than 3 weeks enjoying the beautiful good effects, then after that period I see the loose skin. Im a professional lifter and my age is 59 and I look and maintain myself in good shape. I don’t represent my age but my neck right down my chin area started to loose firmness. If you can help me to understand why Botox don’t last?

There could be a lot of reasons... make sure you're going to someone who is reputable and doesn't water down the product!

Thank you Dr Kappel.Very interesting. I always learn a lot from your channel. I would love to start using Mdaire vit c serum as it contains ascorbic acid but I was wondering if I could use it with a stem cell/ growth factor serum. I was told that the low ph of ascorbic acid would effect the efficiency of the stem cell serum. Any advice would be appreciated.

I purchased her vit c serum and it’s really good. My similar question is if I can use it with hydroquinone 6% and, if so, which order would I apply?
@DrStefaniKappel Жыл бұрын
Yes of course! The delivery systems of the Vit C are innovative and allow the product to rapidly absorb within minutes. I'd put the sc/gf serum on after and there shouldn't be any problem.

I am 61 and have lost about 75lbs or in the last 1.5 years. Especially in the last 5 - 6 months my face and neck really look old due to sagging skin from the weight loss. Prior to this I've always been fat with supple, smooth, and wrinkle free skin. And people always guessed my age to be 10 - 15 years younger. Now I look old, older than I did even a few months ago. I've had a fat face and double chin but never a turkey neck and lines at my mouth. I know it is a result of the weight loss. Will botox help my face and neck?
@martaa.4067 Жыл бұрын
Botox has no effect on sagging skin. Perhaps some skin resurfacing treatments (e.g., Morpheus or laser) could help a bit. Otherwise, at this age, the only solution is surgical, I’m afraid. Or gaining back some pounds - at certain age losing weight is detrimental to the condition of one’s skin.
@dixiedobbins Жыл бұрын
I’m 60 and lost 80 pounds. So I understand. I got ULTherapy in my neck & it really helped a lot. I might get thermage in a year to finish it off. But keeping that skin moisturized with oil of Olay with sunscreen helped a lot. I moisturize at night too and I gave up soft drinks snd drink lots of bottled water now. It helps too. If we are not moisturized and hydrated it shows on the neck. But I love what the UlTheraoy did. To tighten my neck skin. Look into thermage at a local MEd spa. Or good dermatologist. Btw I love these videos. She’s a brilliant Doctor. ❤
