The problem is the expansionist mentality of Ethiopia. You cannot threaten your neighbors to gain a port for a naval base. Somalis have no issue with Ethiopia using Somali ports for commercial purposes, but, of course, they cannot own the ports. Secondly, the ones behind this mess are Israel and the UAE. They want Ethiopia to have a naval base so that Ethiopia can protect their assets. The UAE is trying to control all the ports around the Red Sea. This desert principality, which was only a fishing village not that long ago, now thinks it can control all the ports in the Red Sea.

The access to the sea that Ethiopia desires is located in Somaliland. Somalia has no say of what happens in Somaliland territory. Ethiopia will need to negotiate with Somaliland not Somalia for sea access.

The Red Sea starts half way in Djibouti. Geoghtaphically Djibouti, Eritrea, Yemen, South Arabia, Sudan, Egypt and Oman are on the Red Sea. These are not only a few people calling the Red Sea and the location Red Sea starts and ends need to clear geographically. It's the same water from Somalia to Egypt but the terms of each body of water called are different and should be clear. There may be some other countries connecting the red sea as well. Either way, Ethiopia PM always flips things. He changes not by the months but by the days. He is the kind of central attention seeker who should be a Hollywood star. Somalia should never truth to Mr.Abiy and stick its plan with and without what Mr.Abiy says. You can call Somalia Ocean, Gulf of Aden and Indian ocean but Somalia has nothing to do with the red Sea the same way as the Suize canal to the Mediterranean. The Somalia ocean stretches from Raskanboni, Jubaland all the way to Adel on the Djibouti border. The Somalia coastline or its ocean doesn't touch the Red Sea.
