| Ankara, Turkey, May 28, 2019 - Japan claimed a three set away victory over Turkey in front of their crowd on Tuesday in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Turkey coach Giovanni Guidetti: "I apologize to the Ankara spectators. There's nothing to say. We played very badly and that's our level. Congratulations to Japan for the victory."
Turkey player Meliha Ismailoglu: "So what can I say? We played really bad today against Japan. They made an amazing job in defence and attack. Congratulations to them."
Japan captain Nana Iwasaka: "This is our first match in Ankara while Turkey played infront of their crowd. Many fans came to watch the match, that's great. I'm happy that we won the match."
Japan coach Kumi Nakada: "We knew that Turkey hadn't lost any matches in the VNL and it was a challenge for us. We are glad to win."

What a win for Japan! That floor defense is incredible! In the first 2 sets, Turkey’s middle attacker was unstoppable! Japan made it looked easy but there’s so much hard work and long rallies! Great game!!! 🤩👌

Their defense are just spectacular in a way it'll make the opponent tired and take that opportunity to spike that ball and end that mega rally. Kudos to Japan. Japan is stronger when Kurogo is on the court. They've also beaten China's B Team in Montruex with Kurogo. Ishii + Kurogo = Hisamitsu + Toray. Hisamitsu and Toray are the top 2 in Japanese V.League.

Japonya hakkında bir şey fark ettim : Hepimiz Japonlar’ın o müthiş şekilde kurtardığı zor toplara aşinayızdır diye varsayıyorum. Diyelim ki Japonlar’a karşıdan zor bir top geldi ve biri çok zor bir şekilde olsa da topa yetişti ama top düzgün bir yere gitmedi. Sonra ikinci oyuncu da koşarak o topa yetişip topu kurtardı ama top çok smaç vurulası bir pozisyona gitmedi. Bu olayı Japonlar’ın oynadığı maçlarda çok görüyorum ve sonunda her daim üçüncü oyuncu o smaç vurulası olmayan topa smaç vurarak içeri gönderiyor. Oysa Dominik Cumhuriyeti’nin oynadığı bir maça bakın, oyuncular üçüncü topu plaseyle karşıya atabilecekken bile parmak pasla içeri gönderiyor. Sadece defans bakımından değil, Japonlar cidden iyi bir takım. Asla bizim oyunculara kötü demiyorum, müthişler. Fakat eğer olimpiyatlarda Japonya ile eşleşirsek işimiz kolay olmayacak gibime geliyor.

Ishii is such a steady player. While Ishii is stepping up for Japan, she has a good support from the rest of the team. Plus Risa has been consistent too, her being an all-around-player. And it's nice to watch Kobato (Libero) dig after another, she reminds me of Arisa Sato in-the-making. Hoping that Japan will continue until the final.

I think Turkey is still a good team,but I watch old videos about old Turkish team and old players were more defensive,they were maybe shorter or at the same height but it was hard for the ball to fall because every player was fighting. I hope Turkey can return back to those old days with different players, and this is one of the reason why Turkey lost.

Xarriable I never commented on their standing, so you spare me that detail. The subject of the matter is this game and they were clearly outplayed by Japan. Don’t discredit Japan’s achievement IN THIS GAME, by saying Turkey was having an off day. Turkey was passing great, setting great, and hitting well. But Japan’s tempo just wasn’t something they are used to in a European standard. No one is questioning Turkey’s prowess, so you need to relax, haha! I’m sure they will study this game and make adjustments in the future, and will most likely, do a much better job!
