These " Turkish " barbers are now being investigated by the police and councils for money laundering, employing illegal immigrants and much more. You may even find that most of the employers and employees have come from Albania, Romania and other such countries.

I remember high streets when they contained bakers, butchers, greengrocers, fish shops, hardware shops, newsagents, sweet shops, shoe shops, clothes shops etc etc. Instead of Turkish barber's, tattoo parlours, nail bars, tanning salons, charity shops, booze shops, vape shops, betting shops. foreign food markets, greasy burger and kebab shops etc etc A visual reminder of a declining society.
@uws5604
@uws5604 3 ай бұрын
It is a visual reminder of a DIFFERENT society, not a declining one. The Internet has caused this change by supplying products directly to buyers and cutting out the physical middlemen (other than those which double up as parcel collection points). And foreign food markets are serving a need for our diverse communities, which is surely a good thing.

As a Brit who spends most of the time living in Türkiye, I often use authentic barbers over there. They are usually elderly, very experienced gentlemen who give you the best haircut and facial. That is, provided you can speak enough of the language to be understood. However, when I've used "Turkish Barbers" in the UK, I've found them to be young and usually Kurdish from Iran or Iraq. They don't give the same experience as the genuine article and certainly nothing better than a trained British barber.

Hi Stephen, yes our High Street is one road like Central Drive, run down, only 4 English shops left which are the toy shop which is the only one in the county and has been there since the 60`s, there is also a green grocer, butcher and West End DIY, 1 bank left. The rest are the take away shops pizza & kebabs, Chinese nail bars, the new thing is the foreign super market & convenience stores, and then there's the Turkish barbers they seem to be lining them all up and they have taken over, its a front for money laundering, illegal immigrants, black market and drug dealing, most English small businesses are closing because they can't afford the business rates any longer, the barbers are open 7 days a week with hardly no custom, how do they make it pay? do they know how to use scissors? No!, clippers for them is the way, personally no I wouldn't use them again, you ask for a short, back and sides and you come out with the same cut as everyone else, cash only would you believe it!, Stephen thank you my friend, thumbs up,....we're on our way to Blackpool for this weekend, we're going to do it again, it would be great to see you again, thanks again!!

If it is a well known fact that these places are used for illegal acts, then surely the authorities / council / government / police, need to crack down on this and put a stop to this. Otherwise, at this rate of advance, in ten years time, every other business will a Turkish barber or a vape shop !

I traveled from Australia, visited relatives in Bromsgrove, I needed a haircut and found the Turkish Barber just off High Street. It was very clean, good price and great haircut. Seemed popular.

In Dumfries / Scotland there's two Turkish barbers in the space of 100m, you go past empty mostly, the guy usually sitting down using his phone or what ever he's doing?

There's only two in a mile where I live, but they do seem to have appeared from nowhere and there lecky bills must be enormous with the amount of lights etc and most of the time they're on all through the night, unbelievable.

Hi Stephen, I realise this video is about the various shops on Central dive but a word about the knife bin. I have used it to safely dispose of old kitchen knives when I replaced them. I also wrapped them in a note with my name and phone number. It seemed a safer way of getting rid of them than just putting them in the household rubbish, after all I didn't know who would get hold of them at the recycling plant. The note was so they would know they hadn't been used in a crime.

the councils are complicit in this nightmare, thats why everyone should withhold council tax until they change their ways. councils despise the indigenous population, if you check out how the employment of authorities has exploded over the years, you'll probably be shocked, all you exist for is to have as much money as possible taken from you to pay their salaries.

Some eastern european food shops are run by turkish rather than polish or romanian. There was an article a while back when a polish journalist went into some shops supposedly polish only speaking polish and they couldn't understand her!

It’s good that they’re pumping money into regenerating the area but I can’t help feeling that it’s something that should have been done over a decade ago and they have let certain areas decline so much. It’s so sad to see. Some of the old buildings are beautiful.

Barber's, European convenience stores, nail bar's and coffee shops. All laundering money in some way or form, along with selling drugs, and cigarettes from different countries. Most of the worker's in these stores have higher end mercedes, BMW or range rovers.

In our local town (20000 pop) we went from 4 Barbers in 2019 to 12 now and the prices went up by about 50% very little competition but some of the ones that were there in 2019 are much quieter. It's got a lot to do with the beard craze and they all seem to know what they are doing but nearly all of them have moved to the UK in the last 5 years
