Merhaba Sercan Bey, çok güzel bir videoyu. Çok teşekkür ederim. I have a question concerning the following sentence: "Yemek yapmak hobilerimden biri"= "Cooking is one of my hobbies". Why do we need to use the "-den" suffix since "biri" already means "one of them". Why not " Yemek yapmak hobilerimin biri."? I am quite confused.😅 Şimdiden cevabınız teşekkür ederim.

Hi there, One of the uses of the ablative case suffix is a complement with partitive meaning. Actually, "Yemek yapmak hobilerimden." is enough as a sentence. It means "Cooking is among my hobbies.". It is common to add "biri" so we say " Yemek yapmak hobilerimden (biri)." Cooking is among/one of my hobbies.". The partitive meaning is not really achieved with "....hobilerimin biri." (Possessive construction) Hope this helps.

Hi there, thank you so much for your endeavour. - "Bu dükkan" = nominative (with no case suffix) - "Dükkan-ı çok güzel" = "dükkan-ı" is still nominative because -ı is not a case suffix. It is possessive suffix for 3rd singular person. (Onun dükkan-ı). Accusaitive case suffix defines the definite direct object and for a direct object to exist in a sentence, the predicate must be a trnasitive verb. "Dükkanı çok güzel." is a nominal sentence. The predicate is a not a verb. Here is more details on that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaa7ZGpsabGYd5o and kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6HcdK2EppehbZo . - "Dün dükkan-a gittim." "dükkan-a is in dative case". - "Çiçeği dükkan-dan aldım." (dükkan-dan is in the ablative case and çiçeğ-i is in the accusative case.) - "Dükkan-da arkadaşım-ı bekledim". (Dükkan-da is in the locative case and arkadaşım-ı is in the accusative case.) - "Bu Ahmet-in dükkanı." "Ahmet'in is in the genitive case". Hope this helps. If you need more details, juet let me know.
