As a Norwegian who have been reading some of the most outrageous comments, here is what I replied to an offensivé vulgar guy who happens to be a Turk: before you insult Emin Mammdov, let a Norwegian specialised in International relations tell you this: before spewing hateful words about Arabs, which obviously you know nothing about them, because it’s obvious that you haven’t traveled and seen much otherwise you wouldn’t say such nonsense. Who are the Arabs? They are people that have been assimilated and integrated from so many sophisticated civilizations like the Assyrians’ the Sumerians’ the Babylonians, the Egyptians, the Berbers’the Phoenicians’ as they were all conquered by the Arabs, they became part of the Arab-speaking world.. now these turned out to be some of the most sophisticated civilizations we’ve ever seen... ever been in Spain or Sicily or Malta or Portugal? Ever heard of their legacies and their architectural Wonders? The magnificent Alhambra? The Alcazar of Seville? The Mezquita of Córdoba ? Doubt an ignorant, who to start with isn’t even a native to the Mediterranean world is pretending to have a culture. Do you know that you the ottomans when the caliph of Baghdad brought you as mercenaries to fight in his empire, you were considered as savages by the Abbasids .. I bet you have no clue that Baghdad was considered the Mecca of technology and science.. where do you, we in the West took our knowledge from? Not only from the Greeks’ but from the different Arab states I’ve mentioned above.. do you know that your language has more than 36% of it from Arabic? Spanish comes next.. Spanish has over 26% of its words from Arabic... then comes Portuguese, French, English and Norwegian.. of course we have borrowed words from Arabic not Turkish... cipher’ Algorithm, Algebra, Almanac, monsoon, safari, coffee, sugar’ syrup’ sorbet, ,pasta, pizza, orange, artichoke...Spinach’ lemon andso on... you poor uneducated ignorant ... a product of the populist and militaristic politics and system of your country... We came to Turkey once and we decided it’s definitely not worth it... on the other hand, we visited Morocco, Jordan, Egypt’ Israel, Palestine and Lebanon.. much more charming people.Lebanon was the icing on the cake, we loved it.. did you know where the name my continent( Europa) comes from? From the ancient Phoenicians, which is today Lebanon... doubt an ignorant turk would know anything outside their ottoman bubble, known as the drunk and the joke by the big powers of the time.. have at least some decency to thank the Arabs who brought you to the Middle East and taught you how to eat’ to build and copy their amazing palaces, architecture and gave you part of their language and science...

turkish has around 6400 arabic words. turkish has a total of 111000 words. how do you come to 36%? probably you should improve your knowledge as this is important for your job in internation relations. yes they are the assimilated ancient folks just like the assimilated anatolians who the todays turks are which build the first civilizations in the world (search for göbeklitepe) and all the anatolian civilizations started thousands of years bc. you always talk about the things that are thousand years ago. after the ottomans conquered the islamic world every progress came from the ottomans, they were the high culture not the arabs. you are talking about arab science but the science 1000 years ago was nothing. most of the science is based on indian and greek knowledge. everything important was invented after 14th century. the arabs had their time before the ottomans and as you say they were assimilated not original arabs. look at todays arabic world. its pure chaos and backwardness. without oil you would be nothing. how should the arabs brought us to middle east you are talking so much bullshit. the turks camy by theirself as seljuks and conquered half anatolia and whole iran 1000 years ago. i bet you are an arab giving out as a norwegian. you can sure go to arabic countries, we have enough tourists who love our country.

I believe this particular meal has Arabic roots. That being said, meals like Shawarma and many others are purely Turkish. As Arabs have language peculiarities to pronounce Ch they often say Sh... So the Turkish word for Chevirme which means rolling or circulating, would be pronounced as Shevirme by Arabs. Kunafa however does not resemble any of our Turkish phonetics or language origins. But we know how to cook it very well!

LLL before you insult Emin Mammdov, let a Norwegian specialised in International relations tell you this: before spewing hateful words about Arabs, which obviously you know nothing about them, because it’s obvious that you haven’t traveled and seen much otherwise you wouldn’t say such nonsense. Doubt an idiot Turk who to start isn’t even a native to the Mediterranean world is pretending to have a culture. Do you know that you the ottomans when the caliph of Baghdad brought you as mercenaries to fight in his empiré you were considered as savages by the Abbasids ..

In North and South America where there are more than thirty million citizens of Syrian and Lebanese descent, they have brought with them the best gastronomy in the world. Kunefe, katayef, shawarma, hummous, taboulé, fatoush, baba Ghanoush, kebab, Lahme ba'ajine, Labne , kebbe,,stuffed grape leaves.. and the list goes on.. The Lebanese gastronomy is well-known throughout the globe and it exemplifies its Mediterranean origins. The Turks, originally Turkic nomadic tribes from central Asia didn't have anything to do with the Mediterranean culture, food and heritage. They invaded a land where Greek, Aramaic, Armenian and other local languages were spoken. The Turks took everything form these communities, including their gastronomy and culture. Read up your history and don't be embarrassed to recognise your Asian-Turkic roots. Once, you do that, you'll be able to recognise that you have taken a lot from your neighbours. Your language is a proof of that. You sound more like the populations from central Asia than someone from the Mediterranean world and on top of that you have taken so many etymologies from French, Italian, English and Arabic. I was once told by a Turkish diplomat that more than 20% of your language comes from Arabic.
