I did not run across Alan Stratton's video until I released mine. I like his design better kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJW1gp2oeJWGoJo

I learn or relearn something every time. While initially rounding the platter approaching from the side of course works better. In practice I’ve done this, but not every time and then scratch my head as to why there is so much tear out and requiring way too much sanding. Having someone put it into simple words and images like you just did really drove home the lesson. Thanks Mike, keep up the good work.

Very creative napkin holder. When gluing up I think putting a block of scrap wood of a suitable width and height will help keep the sides perpendicular for clamping.

Very nice I also use the wood wood threaded block. Great information. Thanks.

Interesting , Mike, and useful when we have visitors. A great improvement over the plastic version. We are still devotees to linen serviettes housed in rings, so the video title led me to expect an ornate ring of some sort. Jane still uses her, now rather battered, solid silver Christening souvenir, whilst mine is oval and in stainless steel. An opportunity for some off centre turning. Thanks. Bernard.

Interesting idea. I like the approach. Goes on the continually increasing and seldom decreasing future projects list

Make it tall enough. Mine is a just a bit short so the napkins have a tendency to flop over.

Great practical idea for a quick gift for friends and family. Now you've got me wondering what else I could use this technique for...hmmmm

Another great idea. Have you ever made a comb or a comb like piece that can be worn in the hair? I thought I would try it with some burl cut off pieces.
