I've done hair for 37 yrs now and totally agree. Short hair on older women does NOT ALWAYS MAKE THEM LOOK YOUNGER! It's the persons face shape and overall look. My mom is 78 and she has a mid length haircut. She can wear short, med or long and still looks younger then her age. Ppl always say we look like sisters and I just turned 54 yesterday May 23rd.

This is horrible! The same happened to me. A hairdresser literally gave me a cut like this, said it was "age appropriate",, I am 60 I left there looking like a dude and an old house frail. Thank God my hair grows fast. It is the way you style your hair and carry yourself that will make you look younger.

I got tired of cleaning out drains full of long hair. I now cut it myself, straight around ,shoulder length. It is much better and I hate that music that is made of four words. Very annoying.

That is your personal preference. Everybody has their opinion, but knocking short hair on older women is wrong. Some HAVE to have short hair. I know people that their hair only grows to a certain length. Like EVERYTHING, be kind you do not know the struggles of others. We all need to think before we speak. Had the same issue carol. About year and half ago I hacked off about 15 inches. Usually do that every 7 years or so. My hair gets very curly when it's short or cut into layers. It's a cute style for me, but I no longer care for it and find it ages me. Fortunately my hair still grows fast. Totally regretted my cut as well.

I couldn’t agree more. Almost every single woman (in the senior and disabled adults) in the apartments where I live have very short hair. They all look like they’re no less than in their mid 70’s to into their 90’s. And, in fact, they are between their late 60’s to up to 90. I have long hair. Yet everyone who’s met me (cab drivers, waiters/waitresses, other people) have always believed I am in my late 40’s to somewhere in my 50’s. I just turned 67. Even the nurses (when I was in the hospital 3 yrs ago for major surgery) couldn’t believe I was the age I was. They would come to my room; look at the chart; walk away from the door; come back; look at the cart; then ask me, “Are you Ms Delger?” I’d answer, “Yes.” Then they’d look at my chart again and ask, “And you’re 64 yrs old?” And I would answer, “Yes.” Then they’d say, “I didn’t believe this was you. You look so much younger. I thought I had the wrong room.” After about a week they told me that all the nurses on the floor referred to me as the woman with great skin. Just as you said, being a woman and getting older DEFINITELY does not mean you need to go with short hair. That doesn’t always mean you’re going to look younger. In fact, often times women don’t. It just the opposite.

I'm 62, look 40 people tell me, have very long hair I wear in an updo that is easy, cool and very chic...no more short hair for me, it's my crowning glory and spiritual antenna. Did you realize that when the Navajo Code Talkers in WW2 were made to cut their hair to military specification length that they lost their intuitive psychic abilities until it grew back out? As a hairstylist, she was not making it shorter but texturizing to give it a bend and shape. Gray hair can be very resistant to it. The cuticle just doesn't like to curl or even perm. It's why we have formulas for resistant hair. By doing this should make it easier on the client to style.

Instead, she dry cut, then cut big sections, and point cut, with deep notches, then used thinning shears to take out the weight line. It took her longer to do the messy cut than it would have, to have done the cut the right way. Two weeks time, the hair style ( Bob) will show just how bad the haircut is. Choppy, Deep point, notches, thinning shears. No, just No! I would be very upset.

She did an amazing job on this ladies hair for what SHE wanted! Just because you want your hair long, doesn't mean you cannot appreciate the talent that went into this. I have clients who want long and some very short. We all have preferences!

The only way to make her look 10 years younger is to cover up the gray hair, don't cut it too short and put a little bit of makeup on her. Definitely get rid of the gray hair, because gray hair makes you look 20 years older than what you are.

Keeping mine long. I can wear it all up, half up, half up pony tail, full pony tail low, full pony tail high, side pony tails!! I wash it, blow it, curl it, spray it, sleep on it, and it easily lasts 4 or 5 days. My hair has its natural gray and much longer past my shoulders. My compliments are mens smiles and I get them every day! My short hair had to be washed daily because of the ridiculous bed head each morning and it was ruined and dry. Thanks anyway, but I wear mine long.

She gave her a very skilled haircut:) I think it turned out great! Although my hair looks best with a short cut and that’s the way I wore it most of my life because of my occupation in the health field. Covid allowed me to get through the awkward stages to grow it out and now I love being able to put it up or pull it back when I want to get it off my neck and face. But the truth of the matter is I need to get it styled as it’s curly/wavy and kind of out of control. Lol

I'll be 69 this fall, and have long hair, several inches below my shoulders. natural dark hair, with about 35 or 40 percent gray. if I want short I'll put it up in a high ponytail or bun. I've had bad haircuts in the past, done with that.

I like the cut and the attention the stylist gave to the cut, but I am 77 and my hair is past my shoulders, it has turned totally white..I tint it lavender and get so many compliments for the many ways I wear it.

I think people are being unfair to the stylist, it’s obviously what this woman wanted and that’s exactly what you have to do if that’s what the customer wants. The cut itself was very good.

I think just the opposite. I totally get that the customer wanted shorter hair - but the cut was horrible. It was like 2 different styles grafted together. There was all that layering in the back that went up way too high and flattened the back of her head. Which would have been fine is the sides were cut to go with it. But the sides were left without layering and closer to one length. So, flat in back, puffed out and shapeless on the sides, and because of the one length puffed out at the sides, even though a shorter cut - it didn't give the face a "lift" like a shorter cut is intended to do. It's actually hard to tell if it improved the woman's look because they didn't show a before and after. I can't for the life of me understand why she butchered the back like that if she wasn't going to carry through with a style that blends on the sides and front. And the back just layed weird. I'm thinking it will (hopefully) look better if the woman just lets it air dry. All of the flat ironing made it look dowdy.

When I was younger I wore my hair long, but as I got older it started thinning out and would look very straggly you could vertically see right through my hair, so wearing it shorter gave it more volume and looked more healthy.

I just turned 71. I have naturally curly hair that I spent most of my life beating into submission. It could be anywhere from fabulous to frightening. But, always short and never my natural color. Today it is fierce in all its natural grey curls down to my shoulders. I have no intention of cutting or taming it. I do, however, intend to check an item off my bucket list. Just as soon as I decide how wide I want that strip of violet hair to be. 😁 How you feel about your hair may be more of an age indicator than the cut.

Its not that hair has to be short as we get older, its that there's no time to mess with long hair and it gets too difficult to handle, plus my long hair gives me headaches because of the weight when i wear my hair up, I've had long hair all of my life, im 57 now and im tired of dealing with a lost fight. This cut looks cute, as for me, id keep mine near my shoulders for now, im excited, cant wait ☺️❤

Im going to be 68 and long thick course hair. I decided 4 weeks ago to get a major ftont sharp angle ✂️ 💇‍♀️ and so happy. Living in the south and humidity i said to myself it'll grow back. I might go for a little texturing in the back next 🎉

I'm old. I have hair beyond my waist. It's Grey and much thinner than it used to be. Sometimes, I wear it loose and style it, but most of the time, it's in a long side braid with wispy bangs and side tendril curls. Easy peasy.

When it comes to hair cuts or styles it should always be personal preference. I’m 56 and have always preferred short pixie cuts. The shorter the better for me. My hair is baby fine and I’ve never been able to get it thick. When my hair grows out it drives me nuts so it’s got to get chopped off. I could care less what other people think…as long as the individual is happy with the way it looks more power to them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Her hair is very straight, it hangs perfectly, excellent cut , the top and sides have flow and movement , the heat element is easy , she just tucked the ends down, I think the style slenderize her face nicely. She probably didn't want it dyed it can ruin the texture of your hair . I think the lady was very pleased .
