WOW WOW WOW I love this idea so much. I have made 3 memory bears from the back of my mothers dress I used the front as a full back applique for a quilt for my niece and have been making memory bears from her shirt and dress combined I need to make 3 or 4 more and there is just not enough fabric for bears but this would work out PERFECT I am also going to put a picture of my mother on it. I am working on learning fabric print pictures and I just got NEW freezer paper today mine was years old and it just did not stick to the fabric good and messed up. I have my cotton fabric treated with Bubble Jet 2000 ready to work with. I bought a new printer and This video is exactly what i needed to give me the idea to make mug rugs for my nieces. My mother passed away 25 years ago and I have had this dress and shirt all these years and decided it is time to do something with it for my mothers granddaughters. Thank you again I really enjoy your channel and appreciate that you don't add back ground music, I find it too distracting when the instructor is talking to try to separate voice from music :)

Hi Lisa! New Subscriber! I'm definitely interested in this opportunity! I'm usually quilting large projects. Smaller such as table runner. Love your channel Bonnie Ohio 😊

lisa, i plan to do table runners w clothing from my parents. do you think the pellon p44f would be ok to use for mixed fabrics (cotton, polyester, nylon, rayon, acrylic)? i plan to cut strips, maybe use that quilt-as-you-go idea. do i have to use batting? i guess i could use something thin.

I buy scrubs from the thrift store for quilts. You can get some really cute novelty prints. I just finished a memory quilt for someones fur baby. The owner had saved 113 dog bandannas from all of her pets grooming's over a 14 year period.

Wow, that was commitment!! I agree, scrubs are great :)

Question...I have people asking me to make memory quilts from their parents old clothes. Would you somehow mark it showing you made it? Hopefully that makes sense. Or would you not put your mark on this type of quilt?
@TheQuiltmakerHomestead4 жыл бұрын
Hi Geriann :) When I'm asked to make a quilt I always add a tag, label or my initials somewhere on the quilt, even those quilts made from clothing. If I'm quilting a top for someone else I don't do that.

These are cute but what do you use them for ? Do you frame them or what. Just wondering !
@TheQuiltmakerHomestead6 жыл бұрын
Theresa A a lot of people use them on their desks for "placemats" for drinks and snacks. Some use them as paperless towels for snacks, they can be washed over and over. Sometimes they are so Dern cute you just have to hang them up as small art hahaa.....I connected the 4 Different bird mug rugs and hung them in my office.

It would've been better if you'd shown and demonstrated how to make these instead of talking about them, as most people probably know what a memory quilt is..

Hi Sang, I have TONS of videos demonstrating how to do applique :) This video, as the title suggests....is to get people thinking outside the box and give ideas for using clothing in smaller quilts.....not a tutorial :)

Wish you’d shown the process rather than talked about the fabrics so much.

Hi Catherine :) Thanks for the input! I do have many videos showing different processes in quilt making here on my channel that may be helpful like raw edge applique, making mug rugs and doing quick and fast binding. This video was really intended to give ideas on how to use clothing in more projects then just quilts :) Thanks for watching!
