Designer and inventor Clara Gaggero Westaway is leading the search for ways in which technology can feel human and be accessible to all.
Working at the intersection of innovation, design and ethnography, her award winning studio is pioneering new ways of enhancing the unquantifiable aspects of life: empathy, wellbeing, delight, with meaningful design and invention.
Follow Clara on @ClaraGaggero Like any great designer, if Clara has a superpower it would be her ability to see the world differently to the mainstream. Clara is an intrepid designer, inventor and creative director committed to enriching the lives of people through hopeful product innovation.
The daughter of a mechanical engineer and a fashion boutique owner, she studied industrial design in Italy before setting up her own fashion label in Berlin, only to get back into design engineering a few years later, this time in London.
Consequently, her design method is defined by a rare ability to integrate seemingly disparate realms and elements: art and engineering, purpose and aestheticism, the physical and the digital.
When she’s not the colourful and multifaceted co-founder and creative director of Special Projects, Clara is a visiting senior lecturer at the Royal College of Art and at Queen Mary University of London and a faculty member of Oxford University Said Business School OSLP. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I really think that it's fine when she said that, it really is a good idea to teach the elderly or "laggards" on how to use a modern device such as a smartphone.

Very cool book for phone... I needed that just broke down and got a smart phone and I had no clue... I used to be very good at computers but I have no ideas what these icons are and I can't remember my kid shows me most of what it can do... I am afraid with computers we deleted some thing and your computer is done... That kinda thing don't want to mess up this expensive phone kinda thing... Love the phone box idea it could be made light weight but never go plastic... Mushroom mycelia and puffed rice make good materials...

We tend to judge others by their behavior, and ourselves by our intentions.

Very well said. That is why when there is any doubt at all, it is always best to ask someone what their intention is. This has always made my relationships much better whenever I remember to ask them.

Me too while the GOP is tearing down rights for people. They want to get rid of abortions rights to put women back in the kitchen with 10 kids and out of the corporation boardrooms and politics. It’s part of Project Blitz taking over the GOP.

Where do you live? I don't know many places where you don't get used to an F-load of different accents. I live in Europe and Im used to more foreign accents than regional dialects.
