Turn into Mind Flayers (bug) - Baldur's Gate 3

So I have no clue if this is going to get patched out or not. I hadn't done this before and wanted to test it out to see if it was still in the game, and figured I may as well post a video about it. As of September 2023 it works fine, but I expect it to get patched out soon(ish).

the tadpoles get refunded btw, so say you have used 3/5, after you consumed the astral touched one you'll get 3 back

I hope they never patch this cause i want to play as a mindflayer without needing to do (bad thing) or only being able to play for the ass end of act 3

Spoilers for endgame: You have been warned You can access this form with you main character legitimately for the last section of the game. And even then the abilitys are still very powerful. Some of those actions you get are simply as powerful as high leveled spells like the improved black hole. Having your entire party like this even earlier is insane. So this seems more like an easteregg to me, maybe even an intentional cheat.

the fact that you have to quicksave and quickload on a game over screen makes me think it's unintended to be able to keep playing like this.

This is happening to me in my camp, the night before I get to bg.. Is there anyway to avoid this?

That's odd. Are you trying to go into act 3 early? Any mods? Some really weird combination of big plot point choices that wouldn't normally mesh?

I dont know about early. I am just kind of following the flow. I havent made it to Baldurs Gate yet. Its "the night before", and when I rest, I get attacked in my camp. Fight is going fine, im going to easily win. Then all of a sudden I get the cut scene of becoming a mind flayer and get "game over". I loaded a save from like 20 min before, and it happened again.@@Pyromus33

I wonder of ots doable on ps5 since we dont have a f5 command, only a pause and quicksave button

if there's a quicksave, I would imagine it's doable. I don't know how the settings menu looks on ps5, but if you can set a button to quickload, then it should be the same process.
