Honestly I think your criticism of filmmaker mode misses the point entirely. At the end of the day filmmaker mode is supposed to give you an image that as closely as possible corresponds to the creators intent. So while you personally don’t like that image, it is an image that tries to give you an “accurate” image. It is totally fine to not want or like an “accurate” image (as in your case), but there is not really anything wrong with a preset that attempts to give an “accurate” image to the masses. What you are providing with your settings is potentially a pleasing image for those who don’t want an “accurate” image.
@KDC938 ай бұрын
I used to feel the same way and always wanted a bright, color image. But Filmmaker Mode has definitely grown on me. Not all movies are meant to be all colorful images. Take the 1995 movie Heat for example. It makes sense for the image to be a little grey.
@vincentgray36703 ай бұрын
"Filmmaker mode" is the most accurate picture mode..its closest to how things appear in real life..The standard mode that he is recommending is more saturated and more warmer than in real life..sure alot of people love that sort of an image and it's personal preference..but if you want the most accurate image go for " Filmmaker" or "Movie" mode.

I think calibrating is not as hard for this tv the problem is that there is white noise on the background for many streaming videos or movies that become unwatchable sometimes but I think is the processor plus the quality of the content, not the calibration. Correct?

@MyleftJab11 ай бұрын
Yo QTV. Just to clarify, do you think the LG C1 is better than the S90C? If so, could the the fact the 55 in and 65 in are still using gen 1 panel have anything to do with it? Or, do you think that Samsung holding it back? Rtings have measurements better than S95B. I know that’s your baby. 😂 I’m struggling between 77 in S90C and 65 in G3.
@TestTranslator11 ай бұрын
Curious what he says as I would like him to close the loop on this whole C1 bs S90C debate. Perhaps the S90C is superior now that he has his HDR settings dialed in. For you I would grab the 77 S90C. It is a steal if you can get it at $1999 through Samsung EPP or Edu discount and have them throw in a free extended warranty.

Is filmmaker mode what Samsung thinks we want to see or the actual filmmakers want us to see? 🤓 I guess either way, I like your settings better. Even if they're not "what the director intended". It is more pleasing. My life isn't as dark as filmmaker mode. I want to and do see more color. Filmmaker is like what a vampire would enjoy most. Very dark, post apocalyptic, everyone's life sucks, the happiness of humanity is over. 😱 My 77" S90c just showed up At Bestbuy. Mounting it this weekend and after plugging in my wifi settings, YOUR settings are next! Thanks Qtv!🎉

I am new to the tv world, but applying your settings for HDR, SDR, and the settings shown above, do not have a negative impact on gaming? When i play video games on TV, do i need to disable your settings or can i just leave them on? my tv comes next week so excited, 65" S90C
@will218111 ай бұрын
You say you can’t stress enough how important it is to have proper settings for hdr. But on your video where you show how to calibrate the LG C3 in sdr mode. People in the comments asked if you could do a hdr calibration video for us, for the C3 and you replied you only focus on sdr. I paid the membership fee so I could calibrate my C3. Unfortunately you only have calibration settings for sdr. I use my C3 exclusively with my PS5, so sdr settings are essentially useless for me. Im kind of bummed out because i’m not really impressed with the out of box settings LG has for the C3. So i’m contemplating if I should just return it. I would of loved to go with the S90C but I only have enough room for a 42” or 43” panel. Unfortunately Samsung doesn’t make the S90C in either of those sizes.
@Quantum_TV11 ай бұрын
You can disable hdr on ps5. It'll be more impressive. I just started doing hdr settings since i recently developed an in-house HDR standard. So i can get crazy good hdr now. But sdr is still most universal and reliable.

@johnstanowski94893 ай бұрын
Huh? Every sample of Filmmaker you showed looked fine. And every other mode you chose over it deviated the image from the director's intent. When movies get remastered for disc or streaming by the Director or the Cinematographer, it's done with Filmmaker mode in mind. If it's dark in filmmaker mode, then it's meant to be dark. You're trashing the work of the artists. If you like things super bright, blown out and over saturated, fine, have at it. But to declare what the director intended as "terrible", I dunno. I'd trust the ones making the movies and not the guy who just sits at home and watches what they made. BTW, for those of you who rightly use Filmmaker Mode, it's actually meant to be viewed in a dark room.
@NameSake-sd9sv4 ай бұрын
I'm using your settings and having a particular issue when watching anime. When there's any scenes with a white background, my S90c is super bright and there's a sort of haze within the animation. A great example of this happening often is Hell's Paradise. This also happens across all modes with and w/o your settings. Is there any work around for this, a minor tweak, or is it just the animator's intent and baked in the post production? I also do not want to keep adjusting any brightness settings as I would have to constantly adjust them when switching from anime to live action.

Can this be done with the Q60C? I bought the 50” model on sale. (I can return up until Jan 14th.) The brightness and jerkiness of movement hurts my eyes, and gives me headaches. Even though I switch between standard and eco mode, I still can’t watch it for more than a couple hours. Would the LG A2 be better? I know it’s old, but it’s on sale, and in my budget. @Quantum_TV I think you fail to understand the function of Filmmaker Mode. All it does is it disables processing settings like noise reduction, colour remastering, IFC, black frame insertion and uses a warm colour temperature. If the tv set out of the box does not have accurate greyscale/colour mapping (like most tvs do) and is not calibrated then of course picture will suffer. Comparing out of the box picture mode to a custom mode is misleading and wrong. All this video proves is that Samsung out of the box picture settings are inaccurate.

I like to think of tv settings like food. Healthy food is not gonna taste as good as garbage food but it will keep your body healthy, and in optimal condition. Movie mode or filmmaker mode are like healthy food, and the other options are garbage food with dynamic being the unhealthiest. Sure colors will pop more and everything will be to the max bright and sharp but it is unhealthy for the eyes , and not accurate. The only thing I would recommend the other options for is sports but that’s it. Everyone can do with their tvs what they want it is their choice. Just know that healthy will be better for you in the long term you just have to get used to it and stop using the other options.

Hi Quantum, After alot of research i decided on the 75" TCL QM8 for the price. I went to BestBuy to by the 75" inch TLC QM8 for $1,399 but saw a open box 77" Samsung 77" S90C for $2,000 (it's still in the box untouch not the ones that's out on the floor unboxed that most likely have been hanging on the wall. My original budget was $1,600 so didn't consider the S90C for $2,500. But at $2,000 it made me pause. What are your thoughts between the 2 TVs with the S90C at $2000 and TCL at $1399.
