Clueless cop thinks his patrol car is not public property, which is true to the extent that people cannot get into it and drive off. However, the vehicle belongs to the municipality and is funded by taxpayer money! In that regard, the vehicle is public property, even though it is only to be driven by police officers.

The officers were having trouble..The expectation was they would be successful at shooing some photo-dweeb out of the area..being suddenly and unexpectedly obligated to participate in the legal discussion they obviously couldn't handle was a new, raw, and awkward sensation...But there is always that gravitational "thump" when the long arm of the law has nothing to reach for...

I watched another audia go into the New York police department with a court ruling confirming that it's legal to record in the police department. The cops threw the ruling to the ground and said they don't care about a court rulings. And physically removed him from the new York police department.

I'm all for 1st amendment rights but getting that close to a police cruiser? After dark at night? Let's be reasonable here. Clearly any police officer...really any person, cop or civilian...would question what the issue is. I see nothing wrong with that cop engaging to determine whether or not you were a threat to him and his partner.
