I have an old coffee grinder that I use to grind flax seeds, nuts etc, and it works fabulously! Just a tip for those who don't have a vitamix :)

Thanks...I don't own a dehydrator...but I did bake mine & tried it for the first time this morning. My batter was beets, kale and carrots; I added organic whole wheat flour and a little water and spices. The edges of the dough baked up crispy but the middle came out leathery....I think I didn't spread it evenly. Tasted great with hummus. Love your passion, Dara! Herbie is a doll too I must say...what a treasure he is!

Dude - thank you so much for the pizza base idea!! I have a heap of pulp and have been separately looking for a vegan gluten-free pizza crust for my family - I never thought of bringing the 2 ideas together!! I will be giving it a go tonight I think 😉

I LOVE this idea! I'm so glad it's almost winter. Instead of spending so much time in my garden, I'll be in the kitchen trying your recipes. You're such a beautiful ray of sunshine.

I love wetting my counter top with a dish rag and then place the Teflex sheet down. The moisture on the counter top will hold the sheet in place. I love your videos Dara! Thanks so much!

It looked like it had so much potential but then you left us hanging. What does it look like once it comes out of the dehydrator?

Before people think they have to buy a dehydrator, you might want to test your oven on super low temperatures. Mine works. My mistake was the part where "if you don't like it before it dehydrates you won't like it after." I'm not sure why I didn't figure that part out, ha, ha. Thanks!

I save the carrot pulp from my carrot juice and I add it to my sauce for the zucchini noodles. Starting tomorrow I plan on making green juice using butter lettuce and parsley. I also want to save the green pulp. What would be a good way to use it? I'm thinking to add it to my sauce as well, to sort of rehydrate it. I imagine that the pulp from such tender greens won't be tough and stringy.

Thanks for sharing. It's a very good idea; I always squirm when I have to throw away the pulp. One thing though, would have been nice to see the end result once out of the de-hydrator. Still I appreciate you sharing the idea. Thank you.

Dara, I noticed that you used your juicer that creates a wetter pulp, was that for purposes of the bread recipe, or convenience and your chosen juice recipe? Would you choose a juicer that makes a drier pulp, if your main goal was less dehydrating time? Thank you!

Dara superb idea to stay in budget while juicing. How many days do you think this pattee will stay good in the fridge when I make patties or balls out of it? I dont have a dehydrator..can I do the same thing in the oven?
@daradubinet
@daradubinet 9 жыл бұрын
yes i would do it in the oven. once fully dehydrated or cooked they last longer than if moist. depends how must moisture. if dry a couple of weeks in fridge.

Dara! I love that you have found some great uses for the,'all encompassing and mysterious', juice pulp! My question to you is.."Does the pulp have any,'ACTUAL',nutritional value to it, after all the juice has been removed?" I have been feeding the pulp to our FANTABULOUS desert tortoise, Goethe,as She, is our resident,'composter'! But I would just LOVE to use it to better nourish myself! Thanx from the..."Wild,Wild West of Arizona'!!!

A lot of vitamins are left in the pulp and also almost all the fibers are in the pulp. So the pulp is more healthy than the actual juice =) (for most vegetables and fruit)

Also, if you aren't independantly rich with ALL DAY to do nothing but make videos and prepare RAW food... buying ground flax will be ok. I prefer to just compost the pulp.. the veggies and fruit have already given all they can in the juice - not much is left in the pulp - and my time is better served just buying some crackers! Thx for sharing though...

+Katherine Hewitt Yes you can. But you'll have to put way less, maybe 1/2 to 1/4 (usually online recipies give 1/3 flax to chia).

Just discovered your videos. Love them! Much more down-to-earth and real than so much of the stuff on the food channels, plus you focus on healthy foods. I love your style...refreshing, humble and disarming. How is it you don't have your own TV show by now? Keep up the good work. I'm going to post a link to your channel on my Facebook Page (Facebook/onepeaceablekingdom). Best wishes!
