Excellent explanation! Tiny quibble: where you say roll (turn coord. Shows roll ) you should say “RATE of roll” as in rate of turn.

Really good video. One small problem though... 4:05 minutes in, the blue arrows are in the wrong position. They should be in the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock position. And then when the force is transferred 90 degrees forward by precession, the 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock are correct. Notice the narrator describes everything correctly... he says the force is transferred 90 degrees forward but the video shows the blue arrows moving 180 degrees forward . That being said, I really like this narrator and the video is very well done. The best part that really helps me understand what is going on is at 7:30 with the "First Scenario" and "Second Scenario" examples. Fantastic! Thank you!

How the springs came into play is a bit confusing, I have to reference to another video to really understand why the bank does not affect turn and slip indicator in terms of rigidity. But it's overall very helpful and an awesome tutorial. Thanks!

In the bits where there's an axonometric view of the gyros and the airplane... a schematic 3view of both of them thrown into the animation would've helped a lot to make me understand exactly what happens when. I've not quite got it yet, but... Might just watch this 1 or 2-3 more times.

@captainmarwan57057 жыл бұрын
What if you yaw and keep the rudder at the same position ( no motion around the normal axis, simply, the longitudinal axis is not parallel to the relative wind anymore ) will the indicator still indicate a yaw? In other words, does it sence the position or the motion only (e.g. rolling and banking)?
@genec95605 жыл бұрын
Please respond to this question. I was going to ask it, but Marwan stated it perfectly.
@Boudicca-the-musical4 жыл бұрын
Great explanation, but what about the ball?
@PilotEffect4 жыл бұрын
We have a separate tutorial on the inclinometer, which is the ball, please check it out if you have time.
@cristoballozano21435 жыл бұрын
The bank angle for a coordinated turn depends of the TAS, so... how can a turn coordinator indicates the exact position for a coordinated turn? if you were flying with a greater speed you would need a greater bank angle to reach the coordinated turn mark of the turn coordinator?
@alexfeldman14285 жыл бұрын
exactly , same logic is when you in a constant coordinated standard rate turn and accalarate , the radius increases , and the rate decreses until you steepen the bank for a standard rate turn again
@duydangdroid6 жыл бұрын
so the needle moves opposite the gyroscope roll

is bank a fixed angle and roll is an action??
@PilotEffect7 жыл бұрын
bank is an angle, roll is the action.

Hello. When i start the bank even i counter the turn with the opposite rudder, the turn coordinator will show roll, until the bank is estabilshed, right?
@PilotEffect7 жыл бұрын
yes
@Jacke504 жыл бұрын
When you give so much information in one go, please give some pauses so viewers could have some time to prosses the information. You may answer me by saying " you don't have to watch my videos" problem is most videos are like these
@joshuanelson6318 жыл бұрын
Why is it that the turn coordinator is canted 30 degrees? what is the significance of this?
@PilotEffect7 жыл бұрын
to detect the initial roll in before the yaw has set in
@jameswalker1995 жыл бұрын
The turn coordinator dial is really odd to me, its just strange how the roll of the indicator doesn't necessarily reflect the roll of the aeroplane. Why would the indicator bank when the aeroplane is yawing? I can't change it, but if I could I'd replace the aeroplane image with just a line.
@mattp93617 жыл бұрын
you lost me... how are roll and bank different?
@PilotEffect7 жыл бұрын
roll is a movement... bank is a position.... roll is like running up the stairs (movement).... and bank is like being on the 4th stair (positoin)
@TheAusrali4 жыл бұрын
slip indicator does not indicate slip! it indicates sideward forces! you can theoretically be in a slip and still have zero sideways forces! it kinda annoys me that so many people dont understand this
