Um, actually, dear Pete stole the lyrics from the Holy Buybull, lol! Turn, turn, turn Ecclesiastes CHAPTER 3:1-8 1 To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; To everything, there is a season. [1] 3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to kill [2] 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to dance [3] 7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. A time to rend [4] Pete Seeger rocked! R.I.P. Pete!

@@drivinsouth651 Stole is to harsh of a word. He popularized and brought the words to life for another 1,000 years! In early years he would tell who wrote it. The Byrds also recorded it.

Pete Seeger did not write the song, King Solomon wrote the song. Pete put it to music brilliantly.
@olensoifer99013 жыл бұрын
Almost certainly King Solomon didn't write it either. There are clues in its language that point to it having been written no earlier than 5oo years after the presumed date of Solomon's reign.

Lyrics: grab the nearest Bible and open it to Ecclasiestes 3:1-8. I'd argue the lyrics are not copyrighted since King Solomon died more than 70 years ago and therefore US law places the work in the public domain.
