Good idea accept for the simple fact that if that wood gets wet those terminals will short out.

That can also be true for anything that gets wet. Water doesn't conduct electricity. The minerals in the water will.

Great idea, what diameter of pvc and dowel Rod did you use?

Thanks so much for tuning in! I'm 99% sure I used 1" pvc with a 3/4" dowel rod. Mine are still doing fine after 3 years, however I do like to change the noodles because they dry out and soak in water after about 2 years.

That’s a nice system , design but it seems like the material is to flimsy to be effective and is gonna flex and break

It actually does a great job! However, if you really crank on them hard, or leave them out in the elements all year, they will be compromised. Thanks so much for your insight, and tuning in. I'm always looking for ways to improve my canoeing experience. Tight lines!

Do those small pool noodles really make that much of a difference?

The noodles combined with the leverage and flex from the PVC poles give an incredible amount of stability. I stand and fly cast with them, and they keep me comfortable and confident that I'm not going to flip. Good Luck! Thanks for tuning in!

Think you could throw a six foot cast net from a canoe with that contraption? Sure would beat trying from the bank. Wouldn’t mind seeing a more in depth vid on this canoe. Also would definitely install some “above the kayak” seats somehow.

do you treat any of the wood? or just replace it when it wears?

Hey Sam! Thanks for watching. The 2x4 that I used for the Transom is pressure treated wood, and I put a coat of paint on it. I had to replace the yoke and a few of the thwarts with scrap teak wood that I found in my parent's attic. The wood that I am using for to hold the flag pole holders is just 1/2 inch plywood (untreated).
